Default mean badger

I knew an old rancher from east of Hanna, since passed on, had been a warden in Waterton in the early 40's before moving to the east country. He said he had roped deer, black bear and the meanest thing he ever roped was a badger. Story he told was he dropped a loop over the badger and caught him behind the front legs, was riding a green broke colt and when the rope tightened up, the badger turned around and was coming straight back up the rope, all teeth and claws. Colt decided that he was having no part of this and blew up and was getting out of town quickly. Old Jack said he had to throw his new rope away as he didn't want to get dumped off the colt in front of the really, really peed off badger! I about died laughing when he told me that story!

That would have been a sight to see, for sure.
I knew guys that have roped bear and elk but could see a badger coming in rather than going away.
I've only roped a WT doe to get her out of a snare and that was quite an event.

Friggen nuts.

There’s a link way down in the FB comments…apparently this kid is a champion wrestler and has caught a few muskrats in the water and several badgers by hand.

If he can do it more than once, I really don’t care what any one says - it’s a fair fight so let him have his fun. No different than bull riding.

Looked plenty entertaining to me and if anyone was in danger of being injured, it wasn’t the badger

Luv when it turned and he lost control then chucked it at the girls feet....that made me laugh out loud.
The only badgers I seen up close was in pastures while gopher hunting and they all had a hole in their head, way easier to handle then

When poop happens it happens quick and this would have been one of those events that after the fact you laugh at.

That made me laugh too. She took it in stride no issues.

I can understand why the left leaning triple venti half-sweet non-fat Caramel macchiato latte sippers from the city would be all up in arms but just another day on the farm. Something tells me this isn’t the first time they’ve screwed around with a Badger…

Was it smart..? Probably not, but who hasn’t done something that maybe wasn’t the smartest thing to do at times. No harm to the Badger in this case and looked like a lot of fun…

You nailed it.
No one has ever died from a badger attack but you might get a good scar and a story to tell.
If a badger scares you, stay the golf course.

Dam straight!
And if she catches it mid air and fires it back, either put a ring on that finger or run for the hills!

Steve Irwin pulled stunts like this all the time and we all know how that turned out.

Agreed this was bold. If it was me I would not have posted it with my name on it ..... to many hippy PETA types that would not understand that the "alternative" is far worse for the badger.

In the "old days" we would fill the 3 ton tanker with water out of the dugout and head for the field to drown gopher/bager/weasel holes out and "dispatched" anything that came up the hole.

I won't get into the method on here but you could choose any "blunt force" tool you wanted, like a shovel, bat, etc... far too much chaos for firearms when you are drowning holes - but that's what farmers had to do to protect their cattle.

We used to have a guy on this forum bragging about chasing badgers down and beating them to death with a tire iron. Not our proudest period.

Default We don't need no stinkin badgers

So I'm sitting on my new deck a little while ago in my new gazebo I just finished building. Look over and this invisible critter is staring at me. I'm old so my balls are rusty so I'm sitting here with my pitchfork, no weasels getting hair in my hot tub

I was rooting for the Badger, not sure how happy girlfriend was having a Badger tossed at her, not exactly a box of chocolates.

Any man who never did anything crazy at that age is either a lier or never truly lived

I have never grabbed a badger but I can definitely think of plenty of crazy things I did that probably tread that line between crazy and dumb. It is how a man builds character lol

They are a tough little critter. Dog caught this fella out in the open this morning. No gun but one less digging holes.

If killing the badger is legal (which it is), dead is dead.
