Default Peace game birds

Any indication of what the grouse numbers might be like this year in peace country? Kinda curious after last years boom.

Thanks!

I hope for the best. Buddy went camping west of Edmonton and he said they saw more birds on trails than ever before. A few times they almost run over a few because they didn’t want to move away from the narrow roads they were riding their quads…

Thats encouraging to hear, hopefully another good season. Can't wait for the annual northern hunt camp. Not sure if I enjoy chasing the big game or birds with the kids more .

I would have to say that I don't think that I have ever experienced a year like last year and I have been hunting for a year or two. Fantastic year.
First grouse was in the early '70's then immediately ruined by GF/wife which resulted in the rule that she WILL NEVER touch a piece of game meat until it is on her plate. Anyway, even if this year is half as good as last year, I will be very happy. Here's hoping. Good luck everyone and enjoy.

Depending on the left over crop of birds, it should be good. The Province had good timely rains and the weather was good for a conductive hatch. Fingers crossed at least.

Could always get out the internet and go scout. Numbers will be down a little because of the cool temps and rain fall amount we had in the early spring. But I think last years boom will help keep numbers up and will give hunters a reasonable good seasons

Easy to say if your in the area, not everyone's situation is the same. Also, lots of people don't want to run dogs on the young birds... rightfully so.

Ya I'm not asking for a spot to hunt, got one and don't feel like going on a 7 hour poke just to check on the birds when realistically the main attraction is big game. Generally if birds are good in one part of the boreal they will be good in another however in west central where I live the bird numbers can be very different to what is happening up north.

Good luck this season folks, on the way home from work this morning I noticed some undergrowth in the bush starting to turn yellow. Won't be long .

I will be flying in so scouting isn't easy. Thanks for the updates.
