Default Haggling with fur buyers?

So now that the prices are out for the wild fur auction, does that effect the rates that furbuyers are paying? I got 50 bucks a piece last with an average price at auction of about 77 I think for western heavy.

Should I expect to get a similar percentage, or will I have to haggle a bit?
Does haggling even work?

Last year my colours were dark and my prep wasn't perfect ( first year) this year though I think I did pretty darn good on the fleshing and stretching and I seem to have some lighter coloured fur.

What are your experiences with furbuyers?

the few times i,ve dealt with the buyer up here, i,ve noticed he treats the young local farmer boys quite well. you know the ones, come in with a few stiff yodel dogs, maybe a marten or two...etc

i prefer to ship to the auction, but the fur buyers prices should be goin up now forsure

My dad used to sell to the travelling buyers, and after I came on with him, we started shipping to auction. We realized that the buyers sell to the auctions, so they had to pay less, and they had to play the margins. If you had a large volume, they didn't want to deal with you. Small lots are easier to pay out less money. The positive side is you don't have to wait for the cash, and a lot of trappers didn't want to wait. There's pro's and con's to using fur buyers.
