Default Off to salmon fish at Comox

Hello all, well I'm off to Comox to go salmon fishing, the brother in law said they are biting. Will give detailed report when I'm back next week.

Enjoy the long weekend everyone!

Too early for Coho of any size.

Springs have been biting good off Shelter Point in Campbell River all the way down to Bates Beach north of Comox. 100 - 180 feet down on the riggers and the OP will be golden.

I haven't made it out yet this year but my dad has been hammering them steady at the hump just south of Quadra Island in the last week.

A buddy of my dads has been hitting them pretty good out of Kitty Coleman also.

Bates beach, Quadra and also off of King Coho point were our go to spots. king Coho point you can cast right off of shore because of the drop off. Caught and seen some big fish taken off that point.

I will be there also mid next week. I own a condo at Bates Beach its about 3 km to the coleman hump from my place. I was there in Jan.Feb for six weeks, saw lots of boats fishing the hump. Twelve one day. We got some great pics with my 300 mm lens of a pod of orcas feeding on a school of herring in late Feb. They would circle the school then come up through the center of the school. About 2000 sea gulls were picking up the pieces. Quite a show.
