Default Best local donut shop Edmonton and area

So tired of the same old donuts. Any suggestions on any of the finer local establishments.

Try Italian Bakery (not Italian Centre).

Destination Donuts downtown. Grab some fried chicken at Northern Chicken up the road and then walk down to grab a donut.

Or just off Whyte Ave (behind the McDonalds). It’s a weird parking lot.

Then walk yourself to the Royal Alex and hope you arrive before your heart attack does.

I second this one. Good varieties, blows TH out of the water in texture and flavour.

Devon, and a new shop in Sherwood park.

Vegan, but you'd never know it.

Theres a few bakeries in this area that do donuts. The Dutch bakery or the Italian but if you asked my family(wife) the place in this area with the best donuts is called take 5.

Not sure if it's the same place your referring to but they are but it's the same vicinity. Fresh every morning and massive donuts.

Bit of a haul but the Crooked Creek general store makes as good as they come. $ 16.50 for a dozen fresh out of the deep fryer.

X2. I can’t drive past the Crooked Creek store without stopping. The bakery on Main Street in Rocky also makes good doughnuts.

Was going to say this. Made CBC list of top ten small town food in Canada.

X3 it’s a long drive from Edmonton to get them but if your in the area it’s a must put stop. No other doughnut comes close.

On second thought, do they still have "mini-donuts" at the K-days(or whatever it's called now a days) ??? Those were EPIC and only available once ayear..Used to purchase 20 bags and freeze them, heat them up in the microwave, when microwaves were brand NEW

Thanks for the suggestions. Been a while since I've been to either Calmar or DV, and forgot how good those bakeries are. I'll have to check out some of the local suggestions, and looks like a road trip to Crooked creek is in order.

I used to be quite friendly with one of the ladies that owned one of those trucks. She told me there was some sort of regulation change that effected the oil they could fry the donuts in. I think it had something to with the amount of trans fats they could use. While they are still good they aren't what they were 15 -20 years ago.
After the events she would hand my crew and I a 5 gallon bucket full of those suckers.

No wonder I'm overweight now
