A reminder to anyone who has collected or wants to donate prizes to the volunteer draw event.....i must get them before the end of the month to catolog them on the Gaming permit.

I know most people who have volunteered dont want prizes. But i recieved donations that dont amount to the total number of children....so im going with if all of the children cant have the same prize we will show a small token of appreciation to the volunteers. And surprizingly some donators want to see the volunteers get a shown appreciation for their efforts of good will. Keep in mind the draw will help recoup costs if we are in arrears or be passed on to another worthy cause.
The basic idea is to display all the prizes after cleanup...sell tiks.....first drawn walks up and has first pic,,,and so on and so on. Im sure the first drawn tik winner will leap all over Dago`s guided sturgeon trip.

Then we hope to have a supper for the Best Fish Team ever assembled

And then you magically slip on the ice and those buckets happen to tip over and each perch somehow finds his or her way into an open hole.

Oops!

Damn...I hate when that happens!

bah, with all those starving eyes perch wouldnt even make it to the bottom of the ice! would be a good forage species in there though.

Thanks for the quick response. That should work out well if you are on the early drill team also. I will probably come out with the early drill team and pre-clear an area if it is needed. If so, I can take some other stuff in the back of the truck if room is needed.

Hopefully we wont even need to clear any snow!

snow? please. Lets just hope we get below zero temps for a week prior to this so we have ice, otherwise do we have a boat backup

X2 on the cold temps! never seen much snow buildup on PCR the wind usually moves it pretty good. but the way this winter is going there might be 6 feet of it by the end of Feb, who knows?

Chubbs:

Bringing a small pail of sand or pea gravel to lightly sprinkle around the hole to prevent slips and falls.

Good idea or bad idea because of the "nothing left on the ice after" rule. If there is a little bit of snow things should be fine. Pure ice with a little wind and it may be a different story.

What are your thoughts on this?

I am not expecting much snow out there either. I do think that we may get a couple of those heavy, wet snow storms in march/april though.

Bad idea, IMHO.
I'd hate to be drilling holes in that area in the days/weeks following.
It would be awfully hard on auger blades...

We have used straw on other occasion it can be little hard to keep down at first but once it is walked on it's not bad most can be cleaned up afterwards and what little is left is biodegradable and won't hurt the augers...just a thought.

if anyone is stockpiling for a fish fry, I would tag along anywhere to get my limit, and hold them until the event for us volunteers to enjoy in the eve

Agreed, bad idea after reading the point you raised Steve. I didn't consider that when posting.

Straw may be a good alternative, I think I am just going to rely on the kids common sense to be careful around the holes. I would think this would be explained to the kids to be careful on the ice on the bus ride out there.

Ya i think you are right since i wrote that have heard some issues with straw that at the time we used it were not brought up or possibly even thought about. It was something that had been done for years but years ago ( I am old as you know lol) we all know how some of the old was worked out. So I think just a word of warning is the best way.

Shucks, Dace, I ain't no comedian...

Speaking of "the river runs through it", I had the long rod out on the Bow today; had some fun!

You're right, it will be an awesome day for the kids. Sure hope the weather cooperates. I'd love to see a kid pull a 10lb burb through the ice!
