The Vette is all hype. Get a Nissan GT-R.

Nissan GT-R is Japanese and not much more than a Vette.

Sorry just the way it is.

The base Z06 is $88 000 and the base GT-R is about $108 000. $20 000 is a big difference. The GT-R is priced closer to the ZR1 at $120 000 and from what I have read the ZR1 and the GT-R are fairly evenly matched. Not to bad for a 2wd car compared to awd.

While the GTR is a nice car, it doesn't have the raw visceral feel or sound that the I-6 GTR had.
While the newer car is absolutely superior to the old car, it lacks soul.

It remains to be seen how the C7 will perform vs the GTR

But for a 9 year old design to still compete (and beat) the newer GTR, one has to ask the question of why the newer GTR still comes up short to the 'old chassis old tech corvette?

And when it comes time for servicing, all that technogadgetry in the GTR will be a bit of a nightmare to sort thru when the car hits 5 years old.

Of course fuel economy is a nice treat. And happily the 'Vette still comes out ahead.

Vettes always come out ahead. That's why everone uses them as the car to compare to...

Gotta have gadgets to try and compete plus I'd rather support the North American economy which is where I live.

Nurburgring, Lemans, Alberta streets and highways....proof is in the pudding.

Go ahead and support their economy over ours ...until it affects your job.

Not to mention that the Vette is just a great car compared to any you want not just a Datsun.

Vettes are always compared because it's american, Americans would not look at a comparison if there was no American car in the test.

$ for $, the vet is a great performer, but fit and finish, quality has ALOT to be desired. They all have similar electronic wizardry, so I'm willing to bet the american one would be costlier to maintain (I own a 2003 sierra, and I've had what seemed to be basic electronic problems, well $$$$ later, it's still not fixed).

IMHO, when you see a vette on every corner, it's not something I want. But, even though I drool everytime I see a GT-R (more to rarity), I think they are a bloated tank. I'd much prefer a porsche 911 GT3 or Audi R8.. But That's another price range altogether.

You do realize that Canada actually sees more money from an imported car than a domestic (US) made car? Any car built off of this continent pays 5% duty + taxes (province dependant), whereas an american car, only pay the taxes. I understand what you're saying, but WE (canada) have to look after our own first.. The only thing the americans are doing for us, is buying our resources dirt cheap and reselling them at market value.. But that's another discussion..
