Does anyone know whatever happened to Okotokian? I have not seen him posting for a while. Same question goes for Redfrog.

Also, why was gitrdun banned? Was it because of his post in "fried owl" thread?
I'm pretty sure I seen a post by Redfrog in the past few days not sure about Okotokian though.

Something else I've known for a while but I just received a refresher.

You can tell a trucker but you sure can't tell him much.

What kind of a guy drive's a 400 km round trip in the hills pulling a sand can and is surprised that the 1/2 tank of fuel thst he left with isn't going to get him back to town? Would be a unemployed kind of guy if it were my truck.

Is it just me or is the crazy guy from north Korea's sisters hot? The 10.5 on the crazy scale makes her dangerously appealing.

I thought long and hard about buying one pretty much all winter/spring last year. I saw decent shape 20 some foot 5ers go for $3-5k on local classifieds but just couldn't pull the trigger on one. A guy doesn't want anything more than a small single axle, 12' thing that isn't a tent trailer (never liked those much) but then they end up not being much cheaper than getting a similar shape 5er. Just hard to deny the better bang for your buck the 5th wheel gives you, especially if you already have the truck to pull one.

Search truck camping or other along those lines.
I do like the idea of truck bed with a canopy. Buddy did that at BVJ couple years back and I thought it was brilliant.

Retailers get a % of $ paid out ! Only a idiot would deny paying you. All lottery retailers are required to pay up to a 1000 dollars. License to sell will be pulled if they don’t.

Sitting in the vehicle now watching a bunch of elk walking out of the valley and feeding on someone’s bales. One has a body colour as light as her butt. Except for mane; mane is dark as usually. She is really sticking from the bunch. I have never seen an elk like this before. Wish I could take a photo, but they are a quarter away.

There is a gazillion of them, and still keep coming, but not a single bull. Where are the bulls?

Cool to hear them communicate.

It is clear that I need something to occupy my time with other then the intra web and face books. A productive job would be nice rather then being like the Maytag repair man.

Does anyone know what happened on the Peace River bridge today about an hour and a half ago? A whole bunch of emergency vehicles on the bridge and under it on the west side, the bridge appeared to be closed.

Hope no one got hurt too bad.

Had a long day playing in the mud West of Bowden on a rig move.

Lots of time between loads being hualed, the warm weather rolled in.

I dug out the old recurve bow for some target shooting time.

Can't wait for spring. Brad from Bentley was sitting in the Bar,,, he said he didn't see his shadow. Guess this means 6 more weeks of winter. LOL

Looks like people got hurt badly. One dead, a child in critical condition in the hospital. The driver of the semi had open beers and chit in the cabin with him (according to a friend of a first responder). I have words, but can’t say them out loud.

Peace River. Happened to to drive through a few minutes ago, they are loading what’s left of the semi now and it ain’t much.

Edit: there haven’t been official words about the alcohol involved for now, I don’t think, so I will say it is a hearsay at this point.

From Edmonton Journal:
Quote:
A tractor-trailer unit heading east on Highway 2 collided head-on with a minivan and then another car that were travelling in the opposite direction, Mounties said Wednesday. The collision happened at the western end of the Peace River Bridge deck around 8:30 p.m.

The male driver of the minivan was killed in the crash. An adult female passenger suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

An 11-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Stollery Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the car suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was taken to a local hospital before being sent to Edmonton.

The driver and lone occupant of the tractor-trailer unit suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The dragon of good fortune

One day a man was walking on a trail far from home when he stumbled upon an old frail gentlemen sitting under a tree. The man asked the gentleman why he was sitting there? The gentlemen replied, because I have no where else to go. The man said come home with me and you can stay at my house, it isn’t much but I have some food and it is warm.
The old frail gentlemen was hesitant and replied, I don’t trust anyone anymore and the man replied back, you can trust me becuase I do what I say. The old frail gentleman accepted his offer and off they went to the mans home. When they got there the man said, well here we are. The home was an old shack made from bamboo and had a dirt floor, so they sat down and the man started a fire and made up his very last bowl of rice for the old gentlemen. He ate the rice and thanked the man who had helped him out. They both went to sleep and in the morning the man woke to find the old gentleman gone but in the place where the old gentleman had fallen asleep was a large chest full of gold.

I always thought this was a great story so I thought I would share it😎

There’s not much time left.

Yes, definitely way more than should. Unfortunately, alcohol is involved in many of these fatal accidents.

For this particular case though, it was just waiting to happen, imo. The second bridge they finally started working on not long ago should have been built a long time ago.
