Default Newell lake ice

Wondering if anyone has check the ice thickness recently? Weather has been warm so don’t wanna push my luck.... and drive 2 hours to do it lol

Don't know about Newell but rattlesnake is half open I heard, whitecaps and all. So I would imagine Newell is dangerous.

Just returned from the sw corner (shallow bay) where the ice thickness varied from 8” to about 10”. There was no top water. Looks like the center may have open water as the geese were very active. Also someone had recently sunk a nice ice shack in about 6-7’ of water in the same bay we fished in. It still had open water around the edges. I don’t have any details of why or how it sank. It wasn’t there last Thurs. Take care!

Fishing today on south end with 10 inches of good ice
