Default Where the Gators at?!?

I was hoping to pole the crowd here to see where I would have the best chance landing a big one.

Looking for a place within a few hours of Calgary.

Some of the places I read about include.

Keho Lake
McGregor / Travers
Newel
Pine Coulee
Park Lake
Crawling Valley
Sylvan

If you have any suggestions that I missed please feel share.

Thanks a bunch.

Sylvan has a few monsters lurking around, my guess would be Wab it's all catch and release (helps big time) and I've seen plenty of pics of big ones out of there.

Others might be better than Wabamun for big pike. On Tuesday found lots of very skinny jacks and lots of very healthy looking walleye.

If it's boarding house rules the wallys are getting to the table first!

I think Wabamun is a little further away than I want to go. Especially if I would have to drive past sylvan to get there.

Keho, I've been told, has big pike.
I'm taking the yak out Sunday, weather permitting.

I believe that it is. Some real hogs in Newell, however it is C & R for pike. Walleye are also C & R unless you have a draw tag.

I always catch and release so that's not an issue.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a bunch, but I tried the search function and didn't get much help, sooooooo........

Is Pine Lake really shore-fishable, or is it only really a boat-fishing lake? I read some stuff that there's docks to fish from, but they're in shallow water...

Anyone have any recent advice about shore fishing for those gators at Pine?

I have seen posting with "pine lake" and some with "pine coulee" ... even one with both in the same post.

Do you mean the one closer to red deer or closer to nanton?

Pine Lake is east of Penhold, Pine Coulee is at Stavely.

Have fished PCR before...it's fun if all you wanna do is reel up little walters and chuck 'em back.

Have never been to Pine Lake, but a few people have told me you can't shore fish it...there's nowhere to go. You basically have to have a boat to get any kinda fishing outta that lake. Curious if that is 100% true...

Went to Buffalo Lake Narrows yesterday, and found it was basically like PCR but Pike instead of Eyes. Every cast was a fish...fun, but too easy.

Been giving the pike a break trying to expand my species count. (Have now caught grayling and cutts that I haven't before) I am missing the call of the gator and curious where has been producing? Although I like catching anything I would love to catch something worthy of a photo.

If you don't feel comfortable replying please feel free to PM me.

Hope everyone is having a great season.

Down south here all the bigger reservoirs have hogs (30lbs+), hell I even got a pic somewhere of a 20lbs+ dead one that washed a shore at that Nicolas Sheridan pond right in Lethbridge, the things head was as big as my kids!
