Default Red Earth Creek accomodations

Could anyone recommend a motel or open camp in or near Red Earth Creek for a few days stay? I've found Noralta Lodge and Red Earth Inn but can't get any info on either.

thx,

Rocky, I stayed at the Noralta Lodge about 5 or 6 years ago and it was fairly good as far as open camps go. You have be careful (or maybe lucky) in terms of which room you get because some of them are the standard Jack-and-Jill rooms but others, you share your sink and toilet with the neighbor but showers are at the end of the hall. On the food side, they had some of the best camp food I have ever had. The food was good enough that most of the locals showed up for the weekly steak night.

Stay at the NorAlta. Was there a few weeks ago and it's as good/better than most hotels....

Ask to be in the 400 wing. The room I was in had separate washroom, etc. Fairly nice. Just missed a thermometer in the room, so I slept with an extra blanket on the bed.

Excellent, will do. I come with plenty of insulation anyway.

I have stayed at Noralta and the other camp in town, I don't think it is the Red Earth Inn--can't think of the name.

First, you're likely gonna eat at Noralta if you stay at the Inn anyway, if it is cheaper, take that into account. Noralta really is the town restaurant.

Food at the other camp sucks, big-big step down and I think the price is the same.

just have to request a deluxe room and you get a shower and private bathroom, but it cost a bit more

just put both towels on the register near the bed and close the bathroom door and it will heat up a bit

Red Clay by firebag was $285 a night this past winter.

Camp was nice...food was ok to unedible, had microwave popcorn for supper quite often.

X2 on the Noralta. The only place to stay in my opinion. Even has a little lounge. Only thing is there is no POP or bottled drinks to take for your lunch, they will give you 2 blue water bottles that you have to use to take drinks

It's been over nine years since I've stayed at the hotel or Noralta in Red Dirt. But my vote would still be Noralta.

I found the bathrooms in each room to be awesome and the food was noms. I'm sure it hasn't changed.

Another vote for the Noralta Lodge. Been there a few times over the past few months.

Default Camps

I stay at camps often, one small item that is always in my truck is a small ceramic space heater.... Control your own temps in your room that way. Best 20$ you can spend!

Ahh the life of an oilfielder, I do actualyl miss that stuff. I work a provincial government job now, but I constantly reminisce about my oil days.
