Default Salmon eggs for trout?

Has anyone ever had any success using commercial salmon eggs for trout in stocked ponds? Thanks.

to use as bait?

a stocked trout will eat anything from worms, to maggots, to mealworms, to powerbait, to cheese, to shrimp, to plain flies, to spinners and spoons.

I find the eggs in a jar have never appealed to me however. I have however over the years used them all and had success with them all.

IMO... Trout pond stocked fish don't have typically have spawning fish dropping eggs so they might not be as interested in one oddball egg. Single salmon eggs would work better in water where their are spawning fish and there are eggs being dropped. Bottom bounced in current or trolled. Still fished might be limiting.

Yup, if legal to use for bait of course.

Back east using salmon eggs for trout (steelhead) was often the most productive; a single salmon egg on a # 14 or 16 hook (yeah, that tiny!) at the end of a light leader, progressively weighted to bring the egg down just off bottom, fished under a float - drift fishing in rivers / streams led to lots of great battles with beautiful salmon and trout - chinooks, steelhead, rainbows, browns, even caught a laker that way once .

Aw, now I'm sitting here reminiscing!
