Default 270wsm vs. 300wsm ??

Howdy.
Which one in a Sako Finnlight ?
I have a 300wsm now and am thinking of upgrading my rifle. I like the versatility of the 30. cal , but have heard that lighter loads with 150gr. bullets may not shoot well. All I've shot with mine are 180's and they work fine , but would like to downsize for deer / sheep / antelope.
Now thinking maybe a 270wsm would be the way to go. Thinking it would probably shoot 130's or 140's really nice , and can go up to 160's for moose / elk and still have enough punch.
Anybody have much experience with the 270wsm ??
And thoughts on it for moose / elk ?

Thanks.
M.G.

My thoughts are that the 130gr TSX in the 270WSM is good for everything but the really big bears. And even then I've wondered if that is more than enough as well. Of course those are just my thoughts on the matter, not sure how many others share that kind of thinking.

You are going to spend a thousand plus because you heard that150's don't shoot well in a 300wsm, can't you afford 40 bucks to buy a box and try them for yourself. jeeeze

My sons T3 Light was big on 180's and not so in love with lighter stuff but I worked up a load with Varget behind a 155 that out shoots everything else. This was my first time to use Varget in anything other than varmint loads but it works like a dream just my 2 cents I will be working on a 150 TSX load this week and hope for similar results.

I used a 270WSM for a season and loved it....great round IMO. I only had the chance to connect on 2 whitetail bucks however and both went down where they stood with 130gr partitions. 2 of my hunting buddies use a 270 WSM now for everything and I have no doubt it will put a moose or elk down w/o any issues. Put a 150gr partition in it and there isn't an animal in North America that I would have second thoughts about shooting with it...including big bears...good shot placement is key.

And the Sako would be great....I went with a Sako 85 in a 30-06 and my partner has the Sako 85 in the 270WSM.

I've been using a 270 WSM with 130 gr TSX bullets for the last 3 years and shot a few deer and a bull elk with it. I would pick the 270 WSM if I hunted mainly deer with the odd elk / moose thrown in, or the 300 WSM if I hunted mainly elk / moose with the odd deer thrown in.

Actually, I'm spending the 1000 bucks because I want a stainless synthetic.
When I got my last 300wsm all they had was a blued , wood and I had no choice.
And I have a buyer for my gun so the timing is now to upgrade.
Of course , now that I'm shopping I can't find anything . Should be shopping in July.....but busy fishin and golfing then.

Anybody know where I can find a Finnlight in 270wsm or a Weatherby Mark V ultra light in 280 rem ??
