Default Scope problem?

I just had a Leupold VX II mounted and boresighted on my rifle. When I went to readjust the flip up dust cover on the ocular lens the eye piece assembly started to unscrew just behind the magnification adjustment ring. Is it OK to just hand tighten it back on, or do I need to do something else to keep it from loosening off when I shoot. I want to make sure the scope is OK before I spend time zeroing.

Thanks,

That piece is intended to be adjusted to suit your own focus. Tighten the smaller collar once you have adjusted the ocular. It may come loose once in a while. Not a big deal. It should not change your zero.
