Does that mean if you get stopped for speeding that the police should give the ticket to the manufacturer because he made a vehicle that will go over the speed limit

I'm just saying that Its about time the manufacture should take some of the responsibility for what they make and the laws and regulation in the area they sell them in

In some ways I must agree with you I have always felt that the makers of product should be responsible in part to see that if there are restriction in provinces they sell their product in that they if posable help in making that restriction easier to uphold. I have seen where some tackle companies have put in both barbed and barbless hooks in the package. To me this is a proper way to accommodate this issue. with the price of what we pay for tackle i do not think this is asking to much. I 'm not a hunter but i'm sure there are items in that field that must be changed to conform with restriction. Perhaps this is a problem that should be dealt with so we have less chance of situation like this

This is like companies that sell automatic feeders and "deer cane" in Alberta where it is not illegal to use these products but it is illegal to bait game animals.....I can almost guarantee the folks who use these items hunt over or near the areas they are used.....heck if you set up a huge bait station and hunt on a major game trail that leads to it, I still think its cheating cause you made the "bait spot" its not natural (I wonder what the minimum distance to hunt from such an area is???). If you hunt a trail that leads to a wallow or watering hole, then you are just taking advantage of the landscape which I have no issues with.

We are a small part of the tackle companies business here they aren't going to change for our rules so its up to us to comply, and really barbless hooks are great if you do your part you dont lose any more fish and it sure is easier to release a nice bull like that without damageing him and possibly killing it.

takes two seconds de barbing it, and yea i guess they should start selling de barbed hooks now so guys like mikeo2 can stop fishing like this stressing fish when caught like that poor old bull trout, mikeo2 man come on, use your brain and common sense, de barbing a hook its easier to take out of a fish right, leaving less stress on the fish for an easy happy release

There are 18 states and 4 provinces that have mandated barbless hooks in one form or another so i don't think were that small of a part of their business but unless it is brought up to the companies of coarse they will not change. You would be surprised how fast things would change if legislated that barbed hooks can not be sold in restricted states and provinces or must be duo packaged hooks

Nice bull!

It looks like there is no single barbless hook rule in Alberta.

To Mike02, it is up to us to protect fish, not the manufacturing companies.

Of course I was joking, sure got bests panties in a knot though. Maybe he should be worried about ridding Edmonton of murders instead of barbed hooks on a forum.
