Default Can Tire Big Sale-ice fishing

Went to my local Can Tire and picked up a Jiffy Legend LIGHTning XT w/8" blade for 1/2 price! Everything related to ice fishing is on sale, 50% off. Got auger for $199.
Now I'll be able to rip up the ice to find the right fishing spot!
I was out on Cold Lake today but was unable to get to the sweet spot as there is just too much snow, hopefully tomorrow some guys will have made a nice road again!
Only got 25 days left to fish.

Picked up a 8" Finbore III for 50 bucks. Father in Law going to machine it to fit my Magnum III power auger. They cut like snot just by hand so it should blaze through the ice with a few ponys on her.

Default Jiffy 8 inch 3hp, 30 Series

Whoops. Accidentally posted this on the buy and sell.

Snagged the last one at a Canadian Tire this morning for $225. Checked the manual and mix ratio is 40:1. Same as the manual directly from Jiffy website.

http://www.jiffyonice.com/Jiffy%2030...s%20Manual.pdf

Mixed my fuel, followed the intructions and had the auger running this afternoon without much effort. Went out a couple of hours ago to run it again and no problems. Hoping tomorrow, she'll run fine.

My buddy bought a Jiffy 30 Series, 3 hp 9 inch at the end of last season on sale and the ratio mix in his manual says 24:1. Only one chart in his manual. So he mixed the fuel at the beginning of this season and we used his auger a few times. Although we did manage to get enough holes drilled each trip, it did not run very smooth. Kept stalling. He used the Jiffy no smoke oil for the mix.

Other manuals I have seen for the 30 Series indicate 40:1 for ice augers and 24:1 for all other applications.

I'm wondering if the manual he got with his auger is incorrect and he should mix 40:1.

Any suggestions??

Thanks. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I bought the same 8 inch Jiffy that's on sale at Canadian Tire and after a month I do have a few small problems. All the screws tend to rattle loose after every hole I dig, no matter how hard I tighten them before. The thin metal wire that engages the throttle also looks like it's on the verge of breaking completely.

Well, I put it to use today on Cold Lake; no success on the fishing but man can that dig holes!
I had one small problem, which was I broke off the vent on the gas tank; at least it is in the fully open position.
Don't know if warranty will cover this but I'll try...

I picked up the Jiffy 3 hp in Lloydminster last night, but they were out of shacks ...found a 4 man in Wainwright went with a buddy and picked it up and the girl was going to order us one on a rain cheque.... So it might be worth asking the question...

Stole a Frabill Outback 2/3 man tent for $149! Last one. Not my first choice but for the price, who cares. Not much left at Dalhousie CT.

Bought that last jiffy lighting today, thanks for the tips! Went out to clear lake to try it.... which turned out to be the worst day ever. made a turn to early to clear lake and got stuck in a snow drift for 45 mins. Then we made it to clear lake and my auger wouldnt start! luckily i had my hand auger. right before we left the lake (was only there for 45 mins because we got there at 5) finally got the auger to start. Must of flooded it. So we headed to PCR got skunked, and while we headed home there was a massive snow storm. Took 3 hours to get home.

Anyway i mixed my fuel 40:1 sometimes i gotta go half choke to start it and not full choke is that normal?

Sometimes it takes me many tries to start it and sometimes right away. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

Default Jiffy 8 inch 3hp, 30 Series

Used it yesterday on the ice.

Each time it took about 6 pulls to get it going, but once she fired, it ran great. Would drill about 4 holes at a time and finished the day with about 20 holes. First Jiffy I have owned and was impressed at the speed it rips through the ice. But I guess it would seem fast compared to my hand auger I have been using since my Eskimo Stingray went back.

gotta love CDN Tire!!!

I bought an 8 inch hand auger and the Frabill 2 man tent as well. They didn't have any power units left. Ahhh...that's ok. I probably need the exercise anyway.

What a great deal, though.

Man - you guys made out great. I was getting over the flu, so finally made it to my local CT today. I was happy with all the lures I picked up at half the cost.

Anybody know how long this sale is going to last? I don't see myself getting to a Canadian Tire for at least 4-5 days.

I got myself an electric trolling motor for half price at the Airdrie Can-Tire today. $60. It's not a minnkota or anything but for the price it'll serve the purpose.

I also picked up a 8" Finbore III Pro Series hand auger. Last one they had (had a couple of plain ones left). With the $15 in Can Trash bucks, it only cost me $35. What a steal considering the tag on the box was for $119. Will be great for a back-up in case my power unit decided to crap out while out on the lake.

I asked about the trolling motors and they said that they were not on sale for 50% off. The one was on sale for $50 off the regular price of $359. But that was it.

Hey guys the jiffys r all gone in my region. If anyone anywhere in the prov can help a brother out I'll make it worth your while. I'm just praying to find one, ANYWHERE. Were there any remaining at your local store?
