The nearest place I know of is Ghost but I expect you would have much beeter luck up at Spray Lake. Whie jigs buzz bombs tipped with smelt heads. Minnewanka holds some real big laker too but is subject to seasonal closures.

Spray is your best bet if u want to catch quite a few lakers, though not very big, just walk out half way accross the lake from the driftwood boat launch and drop down a jig or a spoon with a smelt. Ghost is harder to catch lakers but they tend to be bigger, cant give any advice there as no place has been stellar for me.

Cheers

Hope this helps

If you ever do a fishing trip to saskatchewan, little bear lake resort has some awesome lake trout fishing. You have mostly paved roads in(small bit of gravel) but very nice campground, they have cabins to rent and every time i've been there we've hauled out at least one 15lber each in a weekend. 3 years ago my dad caught a 47lber. My personal biggest outta there is only 22 lbs but never been dissapointed
