Default It's just a matter of time before

Someone draws the analagy as they did before the last
registry .....social media wasn't as prevalent,
The liberals are starting to bear a stark resemblance to
the pre world ll German Nazis .....this obvious fixation
with gun control is a mental illness .
Read between the lines , this is just the beginning, grabbing
all the power , all the decision making .
Time to consider provincial militias , the people are no longer
the governing body , we need a second amendment ,, we have to
defend ourselves from the criminals and the government !
Herr Trudeau is definitely not doing this for your benefit !

Absolutely none of these changes and new laws do anything
to counteract criminals . This typical liberal bias , preying on
law bidding citizens.
Trudeau is a pure idiot , illegal handguns come from the
USA for the most part . Instead of trying to get Trump on board
with pandering to sexual deviants, put tighter punishments on all
Firearm related crime in the NAFTA agreement ...

I would suggest that, to the Liberals, the most valuable part of this legislation is that in their minds it will hopefully redirect people's attention away from the fact that their leader is an incompetent silly little manchild with no idea what he is doing ...IE :His India debacle,His many conflict of interest issues his inability to be a statesman and on and on the list goes

While his tweet is technically correct, it's very, very misleading. You don't have to show your PAL, the transforee just has to know you have it. How are they going to know you have one, you're going to show it to them of course.

So what is bringing all these proposed changes? Mass shootings in other countries? Can't that useless bag of crap Trutard think for himself?
This ain't about saving lives, everyone's on these band wagons after these shootings, what an opportune time to roll this crap out! Nobody seems to think for themselves anymore.

PAL numbers can be used for private non face to face transactions, and even if called in, would come up valid. And there certainly could, also be a market for the books themselves these days, in order to do just that. And some bad intentioned entrepreneur could easily hack most stores data systems to get anything recorded online in the store system. They should be setting security standards for it as well, don't see anything mentioned there. Not that I wish that on the store owners, but, there are likely some pretty popular places that have some bad storage practices when it comes to data.
This is a huge concern in my mind. I imagine that most guns on the street are stolen, so recording identifying info and what kind of firearms an individual has in an unsecure location is giving those that steal firearms a shopping list. A list of the nature would be worth a ton of money and I question if a retail store would be able to keep it secure. Perhaps, if it is just PAL, date, and type of firearm it would be anonymous? But I would really like to know what is recorded exactly for non-restricted. Do stores currently keep records of who bought restricted firearms after the transfer?

Also, if it doesn't impact the used market it would be pretty darn easy to launder non-restricted firearms, so what is the point then really other than create a potential security risk for gun owners?

Everyone was predicting " sky is falling".....

Nothing horrible here but nothing good.

We need to hold CPC(Scheer) feet to the flames IF they were to get a Majority we would want a common sense FA with focus on Criminals.....NOT criminalizing licensed owners?

That's exactly what brought this to light. The liberal strategists understand that the "goo brains" out there see this in the media and have no other context here other than mass fear perpetuated by the media. So these strategists understand that if they look progressive on the matter the goo brains will praise all mighty Trudeau and pave the way for re-election.

Bill C-71 has been introduced and the CSSA was there. Here is a quick run down of the provisions of this bill.

1. Background checks for criminal violence and any mental illness will be conducted over the life of the individual, not the previous five year period.

2. Both business and private sales of all firearms are subject to computerized license verification. Non-Restricted firearms transfers will not have the information regarding the firearm recorded.

3. Business are required to keep records which will include the individual's information and all information regarding the firearm(s) transferred. The business must keep the records for 20 years unless the business ceases to be a business. In that case all records must be surrendered to the authorities.

4. Authorizations to Transport have been gutted. The only permitted uses are to shooting ranges and Purchase-to-Home, but will still include "all ranges in province". All currently held ATTs will be revoked upon passage of Bill 71.

5. All of the Swiss Arms Classic series and all CZ-858s will be made 12(9) Prohibited. The owners of these rifles will be Grandfathered. Grandfathered individuals will be able to acquire other 12(9) firearms. Grandfathered owners will be permitted to transport these firearms to a range for the purposes of target shooting.

6. The powers of the Governing Council to declare any firearm to be Non-Restricted has been revoked. The Governing Council may still be used to declare any firearms to be restricted or prohibited.

7. UN Firearms Marking will be issued in a Technical amendment.

More to come - Stay tuned.
How can anyone say that these are minor changes?

The very first line! Has anyone on here ever: been fired? Divorced? Had a bad break up? Diagnosed with depression or any mental illness EVER (Even if you were were a teenager or it was 30 years ago)? Guess what, they can now say you are no longer fit to own firearms! Will they? Not initially but they can!

Then line 6! They have have just made it against the law for the government to make law. That power now officially lies entirely with the RCMP! The group charged with enforcing the laws has now been granted the absolute authority to create the laws! That is beyond scary to me!!!

To all those who are ok with this... I truly don't know what to say beyond may your God have mercy on us all cause mine is ****ed!

This. All of this, and then some. Read the text of the bill at lunch time. It’s a platform for the RCMP to get rid of all the scary kitten killing guns. Expect a pile more reclassified guns after this is in force.
Never mind all the other useless bs in there.
They’re only starting with the CZ’s and Swiss arms to make a point.

And the requirements for private transfers will be the same. If you need a reference number from the Registrar to sell your shotgun, what does that sound like?

Since 12(9) is not currently a class of prohib (that I know of). You would probably be able to buy any guns put into that class. For now CZ858 and swiss arms SAN. I have a feeling before this goes through there will be many other similar guns that weren't mentioned in the first reading.

You wouldn't be allowed to have any of the prohibs from other 12(1-6) classes.

There will not be a new registry but all sales and transfers will be recorded. A little Orwellian double speak right there.

All is double plus good today

How will this affect private sales?
I buy a gun from Cabelas and sell it to Mike from Canmore

Do I have to check Mike's PAL? This could be a problem at a gun show

The guns in my name at Cabelas if it turns up in a crime would the Queen's cowboys be kicking my door in?
