Are we really there as a society now? This is what we have to do now to appease the masses? I must be getting old because this kinda thing makes me feel we are way past common sense anymore with this politically correct crap. Mr, Mrs, Mother or Father is now no good in the turdo governments eyes? Someones feelings get hurt now if we say those things?
Honest question, what percent of the population really has an issue with these gender specific titles? I would guess a very small percent.

Please call me " Etown"
it already exists the proper segue to allow a person to be called what they wish.
Polite society will then continue with as such.

What about the military, is the whole Sir and Ma'am thing gone? Can I now sue the government for all those pushups I had to do in cadets when I accidentally called a Ma'am Sir? Making a child do pushup's, what a traumatic experience. 
What about addressing foreign dignitaries? It was always taught to address people with the proper prefix as a sign of respect, to not do so was a sign of great disrespect. Well I guess anyone meeting with Trudope is already being disrespected by the nation as a whole anyways.

I've got a suggestion, if service Canada is interested in doing what they're paid to do... how about showing some accountability for the tax dollars I pay! Instead of wasting all these resources on all this gender bs! It's like they seem to think that All of the Canadian population is messed up and they feel a need to pander to us!
Like they're trying to make us feel like there's something wrong with us for not being messed up!
Enough Already! Focus on something important! Something that the population would be willing to spend resources on, rather than forcing us to pay for this nonsense.

We use to call people by thier rank and last name when addressing the officers...if we used Ma'am or Sir it was our way of saying "azzzz hole"....they would swell thier chests and smile while carrying their swollen head on out the door....now let's get back,to seeing the government...lots of ma'am Sirs there.

What is the point of asking a question if it doesn't matter what the answer is? If I can be whatever I want to feel like being, then maybe it isn't a valid question on the form / passport in the first place...
