Default Salmon fishing Port Hardy

Looking to fish Port Hardy early season. (May-June) Has anyone had good fishing this time of year, or have any better locals along the coast for this time of year??

Thanks,

I would plan your trip a near the end of June, wouldn't bother going in may. Had really good fishing the week before Canada day previous years.

Having just moved from there (well just south of there, in Port McNeill), I would wait until at least June.

There is some Ok early fishing, but the later you can wait, the better. If you go in Late May or early June, and you have a good boat, the West Coast at Winter Harbour can be great. Have had some awesome fishing at Winter Harbour in Late May/Early June, but it's offshore fishing with some inshore. However, you will be playing with the weather, so make sure you have a boat and gear to fish at that time.

Get a hold of David at Serengeti Fishing Charters (sponser on here). He knows more about fishing that area than anyone else I know.

Cheers

Throw me a PM with any questions you may have warrior. Just saw this, on way to hockey. May is a lil early for hardy although you can get fantastic fishing, just one day it'll be crazy good, then slow next with like one bite...spottier for sure, and avg size about 13-15lbs for Chinook. June is better for sure than May...one of my more favorable times to fish the area. Look forward to talking to you and helping you whether you choose to come to Hardy or else where, know the whole coast fairly well.
