Default Fleshing beams

Decided I'm going to buy a beam for next year. I made one this year out of a 2x8 but not happy with it. Feel it is worth some cash to get a proper one.

Curious what guys are using for coyotes and preference on the round versions or flat? Size recommendations?

Thanks!

all I can say, is get the hardest wood you can get. Mine is oak, and was a huge upgrade over my old spruce one from the farm that got chewed up over time and then created issues.

Makes sense, thank you! Didn't take much to mark up my home made version.

Trapper Gord had a variety of fleshing beams, never thought to ask the type of wood

I use a 2X6 cut out of pine or fir in the shape of a large fox board with edges curved and the board fiber glassed, which last me over 25 years with virtually no nicking This size and shaped beam will also accommodate all pelts larger than mink, marten, muskrat, etc which are easily fleshed on their own shaping boards.

Default Fleshing beam

Cut one out of 8 inch heavy wall plastic pipe, very smooth, never nicks.
