Ila certainly grew some more while I was away hunting (tagged out on 2 whitetails in late season archery):

And of course has become Kimmiq's constant sidekick:

Absolutely loves the snow!

Looking through your pics brings on a smile that's constant to the last picture. They are amazing in all stages of their lives, aren't they. I know our boy who is but a year and a half make me smile and feel lucky every single day.

Good for you and Merry Christmas, Nog.

Ila has brought a little Magic back into our lives and Kimmiq's.
Best damn decision we've made in a long time.
Completely captured all of our hearts!

More than Happy and our house has become even more of a HOME again!

Cheers & a Very Merry Christmas to You & Yours Howard!

The night before Christmas BarBee and nothing was stirring...

Pup's first Christmas! What a Gong Show!
She wanted to get in on every gift opening!!

Not Kimmiq's first Rodeo.
She new exactly which ones contained the Uber Yummy Christmas Puppy Treats and taught Ila what to look for!

Ila appears to be rather pleased with her Christmas Pickle:

Fun Times Indeed!

Very much likes that Christmas Pickle!

And her Christmas saw one ear UP!

We suspect it won't be long now before her other Bat Wing stands up too...

Ad Hoc Toys are The Best!!

That ear is up, then the tip drops, then up. Rinse & Repeat at this stage...

First Bath Day (and not too damn impressed!)

Brushing is Cool though...

And after all that excitement:

She sure got all puppy fur soft again.
After drying, she simply had to come out and join me and Kimmiq while I put this on the grill - 2.5 lbs of Alberta Prime:

Ila could not believe her eyes when she wandered out back yesterday.

Hanging from the back balcony was the first deer she had ever seen:

She was very nervous and full of trepidation at first.
But when offered a little taste, she got right into the thick of things:

Under Kimmiq's watchful eye of course:

Butchering the second one today.
Methinks she won't be shy at all... LOL

Cheers,
Nog

The bath picture makes me laugh.
Tried to bath our 80lbs Shepard cross for the first time yesterday.
By the end of it, I was soaked, and I Should just remodel my bathroom. Be faster then cleaning up. He’s still a pup at 8months.

As predicted, Ila was waiting not so patiently at the back door yesterday.
Seems she has taken on a bit of a yen for "helping" with the deer butchering process:

And of course was promptly rewarded for doing so:

I believe she thinks this should be an every day occurrence!
This morning she was again at the back door, and seemed astonished that I did not wander out to hang up another one!
LOL

Nog

When these two go into Puppy Zoomy Mode it is like watching the WWF!

Takes a while for them to burn down the energy levels, but then...

Ila is 7 months old today and just over 60 pounds now.

Her ear was continuing to be up and down, so we discussed that with our vet.
The answer was an ear shaped foam that goes into the ear for a week at a time to strengthen the cartilage such that it should stand on it's own after a treatment or two.

While she wasn't initially pleased, she now completely ignores it:

Cheers,
Nog

Hopefully your dog will work out for you . My daughter has had 2 part wolf dogs from that breeder around Calgary . Both dogs had those yellow eyes that wolfs have . Looks like yours does not . This might be a good think . Because i do not trust her dog at all . Make a good watch dog , kinda of like making a farm cat into a house cat . Lol
Co-worker had one on his horse ranch for years ,every think was good until he came home one day to find that dog was eating the rear 1/4 of the colt beside the pond . The colt was trying to drown it self by dipping its head in the water .
I hope all goes well with your dog .
Ps My daughter is looking for someone to look after her dog/wolf for 6 weeks anyone interested (Edmonton )
The dog gets along with other dogs as she gets dropped off at one of those dogy day cares twice a week . She just does not like me when I go to the fridge to get a beer as she has her raw food in the freezer . So wife has to go get the beer for me . win win !

My Lady & I have been living with, training & breeding 50% Wolf Hybrids for over 40 years.
We have had ZERO issues.
It is ALL on the Companion ("owner" if you will).
Most folks simply ain't cut out for the task.
Those that are truly understand the Einsteins of the Canine world.

This one's eyes are a mix between amber and brown.
As have been a good many before her.
Blue was in the equation for us for a while, but no longer.

Expecting another male to join the pack not too far down the road.
And he will be minimum 50%

Gave it a few days to make sure, but it appears Ila's ear took well to the treatment.

Now both up, symmetrical and proud!

She has a habit of making anything she wanders across her latest favorite toy.
From oyster shells to pine cones.
