Default Whitecourt Random Camping

Had to rescue my son's horses from FSJ fire a month ago. We met in Whitecourt, 1/2 way each, then headed home.
We now need to get the horses back to him & his family so think we should meet in Whitecourt again. Would take the horses, fish the rivers Sat all day, Sun morn, then they head north & we head south Sun noon. We need someplace to tie & exercise the horses while we fish, don't think the campgrounds would let us keep the horses on the perimeter somewhere. TIA

Default camp spots by whitecourt.

I know Blueridge which is south of whitecourt not too far is surrounded by crown land. If you cross the athabasca and take a left their is lots of campspots with open areas for horses.
Good luck Wade

I'd second this. Pretty thick bush out there but very nice country. Lots of cut lines, ROWs and well heads to ease travels and give space to setup camp for a night.

I have a ranch between Mayerthorpe and Whitecourt. Set up for horses, etc.
You are more than welcome to keep your horses here. They can have their own private corrals, water, etc.
I will be home and can watch everything for you.

I have been completely burnt out before and know all about fires, loss, stress, etc.
Anything I can do to help I will.
Please PM me if you are interested.

Mike.

Agreed, there are many really nice camping spots and pullouts in the area.

Just a word of warning, the ground is still really wet in many areas, especially on some of the trails that are off the beaten path, so be careful not to get stuck (especially if you're pulling a horse trailer).

Update. My son needed to come all the way here for a slip tank, so he brought his family. So good to see them!! Took the horses back with them.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Wolftrapper, his offer for us to stay at his place is what makes AO great. Thanks again!!

Damn straight buddy!

This happens cuz you are a class act and it is obvious.

Wolftrapper, you just moved into the serious respect category in my books. Good on you. The world has its own way of taking notice of these kind acts. That’s what I believe anyhow.

Great ending.
