Default Summer Fly Swap Results - Part 1 (Pics)

Still waiting on 2 more that are in the mail and then I'll get them out but thought I'd start posting pics.

If you would like to comment on your fly and what it mimicks or how to fish it, please do.

LOL I love the flys....but gotta love the names....If I was blindfolded and overheard someone reading those I think it would bring in visuals of walking through the red-light district in Amsterdam....lol

Nice ties everyone!

3 1/2" minnow imitation. Mimicks particularly a wounded whitefish fry with a bleeding gill. Thought it would be good since every body of water seems to hold whitefish and, of course, minnows.

Can be trolled or fly casted with a stripping motion. Surface or with a split shot. Stream or lake.

Will work on all trout, pike and walleye and maybe grayling though I've never tried.

Great looking flys everyone can't wait to see your works in person. I just started tying last year lots to learn but really enjoy it. Great going to a stream fishing and watching the hatch then spending a few days tying what just seen.

thanks again for doing this TR. Juniors fly is a hybrid stimulator/muddler attractor pattern, with a body like the stimulator and a deer hair wing. his version was tied with an elk hair wing and tail, and a he spun deer hair for the muddler type head. thanks again to all the AO members that have helped him with both advise and donated materials. he's been tying now for 5 months.

It's Stillwater Solutions summer duck stretch floss (bronzish/ rusty brown) with a silver tinsel rib.

Good. With the mail strike and all I was concerned.

I posted it on the other thread, but will do so again here.

This fly is a large caddis pupa pattern. When fishing lakes in the late summer keep an eye out for large caddis running on the surface. Usually a Tom Thumb will draw splashy, hard strikes, but where there are lots of weeds the fish don't always key in on the adults. Cast this fly on heavy tippet (8-10lb flouro works great) on a floating line to openings between the weeds, or along the outside (and inside) of weed beds. Wait till it sinks to the bottom, and then raise it with a long slow lift of the rod tip. Repeat.

There will be no question when a fish takes it. FYI, the heavy line is not only to help turn over the fly, but to coax those big pigs out of the weeds after they run through them.

I threw in some stamps, if they are not all needed use them on others envelopes.

Cheers.
