Default Grizzlies from yesterday

Got out climbing for the second time this spring yesterday and spotted a boar and sow. I was able to watch them for a couple of hours as the sow led him around all over the slope until they went out of site. Also found another lone bear busy feeding on another slope. The pics are pretty crude taken with the camera held up to the spotting scope but if you squint just right you might make them out. Just wondering if others have been seeing much and if you keep track of how many you see through the year?

A nasty injury has kept me out of the hills so far this spring, but I got out for a test run yesterday near Gibraltar mountain - we saw a set of large grizz tracks about 4kms from the parking lot that looked to be a couple of few days old.

I definitely keep a mental record of grizz sign and location - helps me sleep at night when I'm camping!

Yes the pic quality is pretty bad. Hard to keep the scope still and the camera at just the right spot and take the picture. Would be nice to have the right setup for that. Also seen several sets of tracks up high and down low as well. Two years ago I seen about twenty five different bears from spring to fall, including one up close run in with a snotty 4 or 5 year old. Last year the conditions must have been a little different as I only spotted about ten. Also had one walk all over my truck in the day time while I was away last year. Definitely no shortage of them in the Hinton area.

agreed nose two lakes western part of 356 and south way over to hwy 40 seem to have way less black bear sign and sightings than normal but grizzly tracks in the mudd in a lot of lease roads, our low grizzly bear numbers must be scaring the blackies to move

I agree that places with high numbers of grizzlies sure seem to have far fewer blacks. I think they are alot like wolves and coyotes in that one will kill the other at every chance. A friend witnessed a grizzly run down and kill a black bear on a mountain slope when the two ran into each other in a berry patch. I have also noticed in the area where I took the photos that I've seen only one black and about twenty grizzlies in a little over two years.

Awesome too see, I've taking hundreds of pictures the exact same way. Alot of times it's nice to take the pictures from that distance anyway. No problem telling whats in the picture. Great job!!!!!.

Hard to tell what I am looking at, at first.

What yardage as that through the spotting scope?

They are almost as elusive as Samsquatch here in Alberta. Very rare indeed.
