Cold Lake Monster Walleye ...How big ?
We caught 30 Lakers this past weekend and none were legal.
So we started to jig for Walleye and 5 out of the first 6 were legal .
The next day caught this monster....How big do you thing she was ?
Hint...If it was a Laker ,it would have been a legal laker to keep.

Easy 12+ lbs. nice if you were in Manitoba that's what they call a master angler. Here where I'm from it's called a smoker fish. Congrats on the monster.

I wonder how many eggs that walleye produced during her life.
Excellent catch.

How to Catch Walleye Cold Lake
Since everyone is posting their walleye slayage. Here is mine from earlier in June if anyone wants to see the action and get a tip or two.

In another month it would have fattened right up.
Give a 1/2 pound a year, I am going to say a 18 year old fish, about 9pd 10 ounce fish. This fish would have recruited about 8 adult fish every time it spawned, so it has replaced itself about 100 times, as it won't start spawning until it is 4 years old.
No shame in taking an old fish like that. Eventually egg quality declines drastically.

Nicw Walleye!I wouldn't feel bad what so ever keeping a nice fat fillet out of that lake. There are so many of those big eye's in there! Please don't announce where you caught it though. Every Laker fisherman out there will switch to Walleye's and then our wonderfull conservation system will implement tags there too.

The toughest thing about smoking a walleye is keeping it lit
