Default Anyone hunting WMU 102 this late summer and early fall? Its been a scorcher!

Hey folks,
As my first thread, I'd like to first congratulate my father on his opening day Bull Elk he harvested in 102. Not the biggest bull, but a trophy all the same. With this heat, I'm glad it's over and the meat is already in a freezer!
Also curious who else out there is drawn for Elk, Antelope, and Muley for 102. Its been a favorite place of mine for years, and I'm always up for a discussion on your favorite spot in that zone.

Kind regards,

BDAJ

Rackmastr, hope this pic made it on. Dad dropped him at 6pm and by time he was back at the truck and I got there it was turning dark. Dad did snap a phone pic though before I got there. We're hoping he'll scratch 300 but not sure. Nice symetrical bull though.

Forgive my ignorance but have the Elk always been in 102? Pretty open terrain once you are South of Elkwater. Congrats on the BIG bull man.

Cacty, The elk come down from the Sweetgrass Hills in Montana. Been there as long as I can remember. Definitely some big bulls in the area. The odd herd will stick around in the Milk River Valley all winter, but the majority head back to the Hills once winter hits.

Rory,
Damn it! Well, Im about 4 years away for mine, so keep an eye on 'em! Haha! Yeah, this Bull was just too easy. Top of the Writing On Stone GR just off of Ross's land. I was hoping he'd hold out for a mid 300, but with this heat I'm glad he's tagged out, cuz I know who woulda been packing him out!

Yes very nice bull indeed i shot one there two years ago almost in the same place as your dads and looks alot like your dads, so nice in that country when you can drive the truck up nice and close like in your picture. My bull grossed 299ish and netted 289ish. Alot of those elk never leave the Ross Ranch and live there year round.
