Interesting precedent on impaired driving
Laws called deficient as marijuana smoker cleared of impaired driving
The recent acquittal of a Saskatchewan driver on impaired driving charges — even though she admitted using marijuana before hitting the road and bungled a number of coordination tests — is raising questions about the ability of law enforcement to go after drugged drivers.
Some advocates say that Canada’s drug-impaired driving laws introduced in 2008 are deficient and that federal lawmakers should move to adopt drug-intake thresholds similar to the 0.08 blood-alcohol limit.
The judge in the Saskatchewan driver’s case said police and prosecutors failed to convince him that her use of marijuana actually affected her ability to operate a vehicle.

So .05 gets your vehicle impounded, but a person impaired by using drugs is okay to drive? Leave it to our governments, and they will find a way to bungle it up.

So we should allow people to drive no matter what they've been smoking or how high they are, just because it might be nanny?

If Ross Rebagliati can win a gold medal in the Olympics with THC in his system, surely one can drive a car, can't he?

Was he stoned at the time? Impaired is impaired. We have laws for a reason, and the laws were fine before the Red Queen messed with them.
This woman failed the road side tests, but she still gets off. So what that tells me is our courts are the ones failing society.

The biggest thing is how difficult it is to determine a ''level of intoxication'' with pot, but I agree... how do you fail a roadside, but that's not enough...
Maybe she is a really awkward person?

I suffer from single sided deafness... I do not drink or smoke... I seriously wonder
how I would fare in a roadside test. My wife can easily push me down towards my 7 o'clock position. Heck almost fell over in the bean-counters office this morning and NOBODY touched me!!! lol

You really need more than a roadside test to charge and convict someone though. There are lots of legit reasons for failing the test.
