Default Unidentified fish in Lake Minnewanka?

I went fishing for lake trout in Minnewanka over the summer, and I caught a trout that looks completely different than the others. It was on a medium sized Williams wabler weighed down by a three way swivel. Is it possibly just a deformed rainbow or laker or something? http://http://s349.photobucket.com/user/Ethank984/media/036B005A-7879-40C8-849F-8F3E447EEB67_zps6ej9qvs1.png.html?sort=3&o=1http://s349.photobucket.com/user/Eth...tml?sort=3&o=2

That is indeed a Kokanee, I've caught many of those in BC. Damn good eating fish BTW.

I didn’t see it’s flesh. I didn’t keep it because I wasn’t quite sure what it was.

I didn’t realize that Kokanee lived in Minnewanka, I thought that Alberta didn’t have salmon.

Some lakes were stocked with Kokanee in the 70's and 80's i believe in Alberta.

Nope, No you didn't "FisherJohn" or should we use your real name Ethan ...

1) No Kokanee in Minnewanka.

2) Looks like smoke from fires in the background there were no fires there this summer

3) Doesn't look like anywhere I've seen on Minnewanka and have fished that lake for 40 years.

4) The kipe on the jaw occurs during the spawn - which isn't the summer, nor does it coincidence with any open season at Minnewanka which opens on, and closes on a long weekend every single year in late spring and early fall.

This same photo, however, is on the internet and attributes this kokanee to Whiskeytown Reservoir in Northern California .......

LOL! I was just going to post B.S. and then read EZM's post which does an excellent job of pointing out additional "fake post" info. Good eye EZM.

Mods, when you get a minute if you could take care of this fake account, that would be appreciated. And thanks as well for the tireless work.

Fakers are always good for a laugh.

I think this is the part of the thread where you disappear. At least get that part right please.

Lately, there's been a few new members creating threads that are obvious attempts at trolling. They get their fun by having people waste their time responding to the bait. Causing arguments would be a bonus.

X2... I don't get people who need to lie and manipulate to get their jollies. Kind of sad actually.

If you ever see a picture on the innernet and it seems TGTBT.. you point your cursor on the picture, right click and "Google for image". If it is a fake, multiple sites will show using that same picture.

Thanks for reporting this stuff guys, as we can never read every post. Moderating is 99% responding to you guys' reports/complaints. What is the fascination with trolling?

You know the funny thing is, at the turn of the century Minnewanka was stocked with all sorts of species (a dozen other trout/salmon species) that didn't make it like Atlantic Salmon, and, ironically, Kokanee.

There was no evidence of these species beyond the life cycle of the original stocking date indicating there was no successful recruitment (spawning).

That lake does, however, holds bulls, cuts, brooks, splake, rainbows however these are become more and more rare as the years progress.

I see the O/P got banned, I'm sure it won't take him long to resurface again.

I keep saying there should be a $10.00 or $20.00 member fee to join A/O and all the fee's would be donated to some worth while Outdoors non-profit group such as Fish & Game, Youth or Conservation Associations. I would have no issues sending A/O Admin an EMT for belonging to this forum.

If these Trollers want to join under multiple names then let them pay to play.

Cheers

David
