Default Reloading 22-250

I recently purchased a 22-250 for coyote hunting and I am planning on reloading my ammo. I am just curious as to which bullets would be best for this calliber as well as the amount the best amount of powder to use.

Both of mine luv 52 and 55gr. Id stay away from anything over 64 unless you have a faster twist barrel.

I use 40gr vmax with h380. Don't be afraid to try different bullets and powder, find out what works best for you.

I think 55 gr is a good "all round" weight for 22-250. I've had good luck with Nosler Ballistic Tips... they shoot and perform well, and are generally usually available on store shelves.

Default powder

Got great accuracy from both IMR4895 and IMR 3031 with 50-55gr bullets.I'm sure there are many others out there.

Same here plus 55 & 52gr bullets
The Winchester 40 pack with 45gr bullets shoot well from my Axis too

Default Varget is tooooo slow for 22/250....

This conversation came up at P&D recently while a customer was getting a scope mounted on his Howa. I had mentioned that I’m using Varget....he quickly replied by saying it’s too slow. I much prefer 4064 as I get faster speed.....
The guy inside along the scope smirked....politely of course
This probably should’ve been in the “Funniest things you heard at the gun counter” thread but I figured it was appropriate here.

I use a max dose plus of vaget with a 40gr BT punching 4200fps out of a 26" tube. Shoots 5 shot groups of. 5" at 200M

I used to run 4064 in an old savage. Shot and sold before the days of varget

I’m not saying he’s wrong. But the burn rates and load data’s are so close on the charts. The velocity difference is not even comparable unless you want to break it down to +/- 10 fps as a generic example.
He could’ve very well have been trying to impress his lady friend.

Right now my hand loads of 35 (55gr) & 35.5grs (50gr) of Varget are hitting same POI of the factory rounds that came with rifle.
