My grandson asked me last night what we were having for dinner.
And I answered him the same way my grandmother answered me.when I was his age.

A nice dry martini or two to start. Probably some white wine. Maybe some red wine, too. Some Amaretto or Grand Marnier to finish off.

Oh yeah, roast turkey with cornbread and italian sausage stuffing. Cranberry sauce with grand marnier. Mashed potatoes with leeks. Sweet potatoes glazed with maple syrup. Creamed brussels sprouts (Mom's recipe). Homemade punkin pie spiked with rum.
That oughta do'er.

granola bars sitting in a soggy treestand or smelling my own feet in a ground blind in the middle of nowhere wondering how to get a chunky soup lid off that broke waiting for a whitetail that only other people tend to shoot.

Turkey
Sage Stuffing
Taters
Gravy
Corn
Green Beans
Homemade Cranberry sauce
Salad
Pumpkin Pie

Pretty traditional. And to offend every wine aficionado some Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot.

I am so looking forward to having friends over. No extended family this year so the next best thing in good friends to enjoy dinner with.

We have the usual staples
Roast Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing (mandatory) gravey + a few things that are a family thing I guess, like apple salad (cut up apples and whip cream and cinnamon....mmmmmmmmmmmm
We also always make a Broccoli and wild rice casserole (Best of Bridge) and then lots of pumpkin pie

I love Thanksgiving and Turkey Dinners

Depending on how our Saturday/Sunday shoots go hopefully fresh roasted mallard

If that doesn't work out, then a breast of lamb or one of our dwindling venison roasts from last year.
Brussel sprouts
Yorkshire puddings
Mashed carrots and turnip
Roasted potatoes or yams

This year I am getting two different dinners! One with the wifey and her family, this will be a turkey dinner with all the usual fixings. The other dinner will involve a Turducken, I am excited to taste this tri-bird meat loaf. It should be real tasty!

Haven't discussed the menu yet but I'm thinking that a deep fried turkey will be on the menu. My wife can decide on the fixins I guess.

Will start the day off with biscuits, gravy, eggs and bacon and a couple of pots of coffee. Spend the rest of the day working that off looking for an elk. That's about all we've done for Thanksgiving for about 15 years.
