furthest robin hood
last night i set my target at 50 yards to start shooting, my first round of 3 i barried a maxima almost half way down another. i typically like to keep pushing my distance if my groups are good to avoid busting arrows and improve my long range shooting. whats everyones longest robin hood?

Three weeks ago at 60 yards. Wasn't to happy as FMJ's aren't cheap and both arrows were ruined.

Not a Robin Hood but a good once in a lifetime shot anyhow. At the TAC in Big Sky our group was shooting a standing Dall Sheep at 105 yards, the wind was crazy. My buddy took a shot and just missed high sending his arrow into the shale flat, I was up and did almost the same thing just high.
We go to look for our arrows just in the off chance they survived the shot. And we found that I had put my arrow through my buddies arrow low profile fletch at likely over 115yards....on a shale flat and other than the pierced fletch both arrows were shootable...truly once in a lifetime chance.

I have yet to get a Robin Hood! After 12 years of archery, I still haven't managed to get one. Came close quite a few times splitting nocks, but the arrow always bounces out. About 3 weeks ago I came really close again. Busting the nock almost in half, and shredding a small piece of carbon with the fletch attached. All of the almost came while shooting at 20 yards.

I avoid that crap like the plague.
20 bucks a arrow, that's a 40 dollar screw up in my eyes.
Good shooting though. I don't mean to be so negative.

If your in the business of selling arrows they're great! After the first it's just a pain in the wallet, got a bunch in the garage, none over 25 meters,I don't think.

Oh i wasnt all that pleased either really. I cant even get the 2 apart. My groups have been shrinking allot so i keep pushing my distance but i usually like to start my shooting at 40-50. Im going to have to start going for multiple aiming points.

Only ever shot one at 20 yards.
50 and 60 yards is crazy! Dang that's a long ways for a Robin Hood.
I did test my broadheads at 100 yards tonight and I was on target, 6 - 8" low of the dot on the Rinehart cube. I maybe shouldn't say that though. I'm simply testing things and seeing how my tune and form are. Where I hunt elk there's rarely space I can shoot 30 yards, it's mostly 10-25.

20 yards for me. Only had the one. Think it was more fluke than shooting skills.

my wife...
Wasn't me, but my wife had a robin hood...her first bloody day! Bought her a recurve at Jim Bows, and practicing at 10 yards she nailed it. I know it's not very far, and probably a little luck involved, but pretty cool none the less. Me, I have not been that accurate!

60, outdoors. Small diameter arrows can't stay in each other, but you can see the split nock.
Now if someone could explain how i managed to miss the whole deer yesterday??? Mosquitos. That's who we can always blame it on

Different insert system. With these ones (carbon express pass through extreme) the insert/outsert is wider at the broadhead end and tapers down to arrow diameter at the other end. So there is a smooth transition from the field point/broadhead to the insert to the arrow. But because the front diameter is significantly larger, they don't split slightly and stay, they just blow up.

Just had one the other day at Jimbows. It was my third shot out of a new Elite Tempo bow. Only 20 yards but because I was lazy and never put up a three spot target I paid the price and wiped out a nice Maxima arrow. I know better.
To answer the thread question 40 yards is my furthest robin hood over the years.
But really a person shouldn't have any if you use your noodle when shooting.

Did it quite a few times at various distances. I won't shoot at the same bull at any distance now. Can't understand why anyone would when shooting $15-20 arrows.

Did it once at 10 meters!
Stacked some too close for comfort (busted nocks) at further distances too.

Same here; while it's neat to have Robin Hoods, I value my arrow$ more...

Only had one at 40 yards. Surprised myself with it and went to multiple aiming spots after that. I'm too cheap to blow up arrows.

Intentional? Ok. Expensive entertainment though.
Regarding my particular 60 yard "unintentional"... How about shots 1 & 2 touching, with arrow 3 going into arrow 2
I know what you are saying though, launch enough arrows at the same POA and it will happen.

Not so expensive when a friend puts up 50$ saying you can't... and then you do!

I've only shot one at 20 yrds. I shot the arrow and it sounded really weird, thought I missed the target or something. Was not really excited when I went to get my arrows cause one is broken now. But looking back it's pretty cool and not everyone has shot one. 20200502_114023.jpg20200502_114033.jpg
