Default Planer Board Cable Size?

I'm building a couple of DIY planer boards using a plan I found doing a search. (this one) and I'm wondering what I should use for cable, will 1/16 galvanized a/c cable be too thick?

I use lightweight (bright colored) paracord. Works great - strong, highly visible and very light weight to reduce sagging when out a long ways off the boat.
