Anyone have a septoplasty done?
Just wondering if anyone has had one done and how much improvement you had after.
I had my surgery last night and am very plugged up today, anxious to test out the new nose!

Watching Botched right now. Sounds like typical post surgery condition. But I am not Dr.
Good luck breathing.

surgery
Two different friends had it done. Took one weeks longer than the other to heal but both were happy with results.

I had it done. Felt better in a week or so. Slowly the breathing got better. Takes about 6 months to feel the full effect. Worked well. Nice to breath through your nose again but I still snore like a freight train.

I had it done a year and a half ago. If I had to do over, I'm not sure I would do it again. The recovery was terrible. I was down and out for about a week (I lost a bunch of blood in the surgery). Then after all was said and done, I ended up with a perforated septum. Not the best experience for me.

I had it done a number of years ago, and although it worked for a short while (maybe 6 months) my breathing is no better now than it was before. Sleeping at night was awful for about a week.
Hope your results are better than mine.

My nose/sinuses are so incredibly plugged at the moment. Like you mentioned I haven't slept for more than an hour in the past two days as it's so uncomfortable. I was coming from a complete blockage in the right nostril and a 75% in the left so any improvement will be better I suppose.

Just had a septoplasty done yesterday. Took the sponges out this morning, breathing seems good through the nose, the lack of phlegm and mucous at the moment is my favorite result so far.

True! I guess I'm reflecting on my own experience being suspended, where I was too mad to bother coming back to peek. LOL

Update: surgery was a waste of time. Breathing has barely improved and I am still having complications 6 months after. Nostril won’t heal and is constantly bleeding.

Don't want to let on how dim whitted I am, but what caused the condition that required surgery? I just finished reading about the process, so I know what it is now, (see, even a retarded redneck can learn) but what happened? We're you born with it, or was it caused by physical trauma?

Although I never went through with the procedure, it has been mentioned.
I have a deviated septum that blocks off one nostril most of the way.
Mine was cause by trauma. It didn't happen all at once I noticed it getting worse over the years after each round of "trauma".
I now try to avoid that..

Leading with the beak is never a good thing. Gonna research this septoplasty a little more. Seems more and more I feel air restricted thru the nose.

Ask more questions !
I didn't breathe out of my left nostril for 35 years ...
I had several hockey related traumas over my younger
Years . I suffered with sinus issues since I came here
from the W coast. My GP sent me to an ENT Doc .....
they straighten my septum , and breathing seems good
but then the sinus infections started ...Back to the ENT .
Apparently I had a sinus scrape , a Tumor removed ( benign)
During the realignment . That's two years ago , constant sinus issues .
In two weeks I am going to a new top ENT doc . I'm told , it is
pretty common to have these done a few times .
Good Luck
