How does one get in on this, do I just go there and show up and is it for today only? I would like to help out, along with one or two friends as well.

I will wear shorts and crocks with a fleece jacket.

Just show up and check it out. It is interesting...especially if we find perch in the nets. Biggest net pull was 4000 once back in the hay day. Now I suspect we will get around 500 but hopefully a number of plump females. We will split up the fish amongst the volunteers.

I don't need any more perch...so I am just there for help.

Rubber boots aren't a bad idea as there can be a few million eggs/sperm laying around on the grass.
Bring a bonking stick and bag to take some fish home.
Kill a perch save a scud!

My Christmas wish.

Dear Santa, next time when Kevin and company are giving demonstrations on how to fillet perch, let me have the common sense to pay much much more attention.

Holy geez I have been stabbed so many times by the gills and fins I feel like a pin cushion.

Question: For my life I cannot get that spinal blood line out of them (where the blood is lined on both sides of the spine). Does it really matter??

@Plinker:
Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjTlFwQb7D0
When the meat is cooked, they just fall off the bone.
Or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzq_KFYHCkA
I scrape the spinal blood out using a teaspoon or butter knife.
