What did you do in your reloading room today?

Did some clean up and organizing. I dont know how it got so messed up. Still have more to do before loading.

Found a brick of 209 primers and a brick of LP mag primers I didn't know I had.

Thinking of down sizing the number of rifles and differant calibers as well. Some I haven't shot for years.

With the prices I see at auctions of late, maybe a good time to do it.

Kind of bored on a lazy Sunday when it’s -20c outside. So I rolled up 50 rounds of .45 Colt.





7 grains of TiteGroup under 250gr Campro’s with LP magnum primers.

Nothing in the shop today, a buddy and I were doing OAL tests on his 308 at 500 meters - first time shooting his rifle that far!

Very nice. Would have loved to get out if the weather was better here.

Ended up loading some 130gr Sierra TGK in 6.5 WBY RPM.

I packed up my reloading gear and components today. I'm just getting started reloading, but getting prepared to sell the house and move back West from too long a time in Central Canada.

What's the best way to move primers and powder? I wrapped and packed them separately in cardboard boxes and then in plastic Rubbermaid style boxes. Taped the powder tops on too. Everything goes in a steel shipping container.

Speer 165 gr. Grand Slam over Ramshot Hunter, CCI 200 primers, R-P brass.
Speer 180 gr. Grand Slam over IMR 4831, CCI 200 primers, R-P brass.

In the ongoing effort to streamline my reloading and narrow my focus on the cartridges and rifles I am going to keep, I sorted through all my brass and culled out the lots that are excess to my needs.

Problem is, all I think I am doing is making room for the components I'll need for 2 custom builds on the planning table...!
Anyone got any 280 Ackley Peterson brass they want to part with?

Shot some over the weekend - very pleasant and the clays don't seem to be able to tell the difference out to about 40yds if I do my part

I switched the lever on my Harrel 180 degrees , I found it a lot easier to use that way

The last little bit I've been helping a buddy get into reloading. We got him a awsome load developed for his .308, 270wsm. Last night we did a ladder test for his 6.5 creedmore. I loaded some test loads for the wifes .308 and my featherweight.

Three hundred cases from yesterday’s range trip. De-capped, cleaned, dried, and now to full length size and neck flare….



I won’t load these today. These three calibers are over flowing in the ammo safes.

I took my reloading bench to the range today for the first time. Finally testing out my portable gear for competitive benchrest that I'm planning to get into this year.

What a lot of work, took me an hour to get setup! Not to mention many trips to and from the house/truck/range/truck/house! My wife thinks I'm totally nut lugging all this gear around. There's more than shown in this pic.



Shot some 2 shot groups to start load development, getting used to this gun (6PPC, 1.5oz trigger) is proving challenging - bag setup and positioning primarily. Loads show some promise I think.

If there are two bullets though the 1.682" hole, I would call it good.

But I have always wondered, do you go for powder charge first or seating depth, to work up the load?
It would appear you went with powder first at @1.692" seat. Very interesting.

Short range BR guys typically adjust powder , and change it during the day at times, and theycate looking at putting 5 in one hole! Depending on the condition Note the Harrel measure mounted by the Kennedy tool box!

Sold 1000rnds 7.62x39 ammo on GP.
Listed a Forster Mic Seater die for 22-250 on GP.

I have been a big fan of 7/8 oz loads for many years, 1 1/8oz loads always seemed wasteful to me for clays shooting

Actually, the little Lee is a long way from the powder dispensing station.

I think! I now have all the bugs worked out of my 6mm-3000-X ( my new name for the cartridge). I have now successfully resized three different brands of brass, two brands of virgin Factory brass by pulling the bullets and resizing and, pulling the bullets on twenty once? fired brass that were reloaded by someone else. All rounds now cycle as they should, with no Remington click or having to stand on the bolt handle. Forty rounds are now sitting in a loading tray, that will be loaded and fired in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed, all goes well.
Waiting on one hundred and fifty used, .250 Savage brass to arrive and go through the entire reloading process before I declare this monster 100% tamed.

I would like to thank all the people who gave positive input into this endeavor.

I was shooting 23.5 grains of Varget in both my RPA and my Sportco with 80's and 80.5's, I haven't shot them in the Musgrave yet.
Both the RPA and the Sportco are super accurate at 500 and 800 meters with those bullets shooting with the sling'n'irons however.
I haven't charged the powder yet, so I may just go with a bunch of 69 Grain Seirra Palma match bullets I have , I likely won't be shooting this rifle past 500 for a while anyway
