Must be talking about different “chlorine smell”. Ie tap water, pull at home, etc. in other words, smell of diluted bleach.

If you have chlorine smell in your water system it means you have water contamination. We had some odour once until our water main was replaced.

Turned out the line had a leak that was sucking in some clay mud.

Once fixed… no smell.

Look online to see why there is a chlorine smell.

Whatever happened to common sense and middle ground?

Reuters: Americans under felony indictment have a right to buy guns, judge rules

A federal law prohibiting people under felony indictment from buying firearms is unconstitutional, a federal judge in Texas has concluded, citing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that significantly expanded gun rights.

U.S. District Judge David Counts, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump, reached that conclusion on Monday in dismissing a federal indictment against Jose Gomez Quiroz, who had been charged under the decades-old ban.

Counts cited the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in June declaring for the first time that the right to "keep and bear arms" under the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment protects a person's right to carry a handgun in public for self-defense.

Counts said that while the U.S. Supreme Court decision did not erase societal and public safety concerns about guns, it had "changed the legal landscape."

"The Second Amendment is not a 'second class right,'" Counts wrote. "No longer can courts balance away a constitutional right."

Quiroz had been indicted in a Texas state court for burglary and later for bail jumping when he attempted in late 2021 to buy a 22-caliber semiautomatic handgun, leading to his federal indictment.

A federal jury on June 23 found him guilty of one count of illegal receipt of a firearm by a person under indictment and one count of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.

That same day, the U.S. Supreme Court's 6-3 conservative majority handed down its ruling, which struck down New York's concealed carry law. Quiroz then moved to have the case dismissed, citing that decision.

Counts granted the request, saying a historical survey found "little evidence" that the federal ban "aligns with this Nation’s historical tradition."

From another article:

The Texas case arose out of the conviction of a man who had purchased a gun while under indictment and lied about it during his background check, according to Counts’ ruling. Last year, while indicted on charges of burglary and missing court dates, Jose Gomez Quiroz tried to buy a semi-automatic pistol at an Alpine store. He denied he was under indictment on his background check form, and, after a seven-day wait for approval, picked up his new gun.

Days later, the federal system alerted that the purchase was illegal. He was convicted on the same day of the Supreme Court ruling. Almost immediately, he appealed, claiming the New York ruling invalidates the law he broke. Counts agreed.

“The Second Amendment is not a ‘second class right,’” he ruled. “No longer can courts balance away a constitutional right.”

Frigging nuts. Not my pig, not my farm, as they say… However, it is their guns that are causing trouble on this side of the border, messing up with my abilities to purchase and use certain firearms.

Also, so much for “background checks” and “red flags”. A simple background check apparently cannot identify a dude with pending criminal charges against him. Charges of burglary and skipping bail, to boot. Now the dude can buy a gun legally to “defend himself”.

Default Watching a train wreck show like Cops or Jail

Is a way for people feeling bad about themselves to feel better by seeing some people who are real train wrecks.

I haven’t seen Ken07AOVette posting in a while. Surely many people here know him personally. Does anyone know if he is ok?

Also, too bad Dean isn’t posting anymore.
