Well, I'm no Draisaitl fan, but pretty hard to call him and McDavid out when you have your defense giving the puck away, taking penalties, and leaving guys wide open right in front.

Shots were 49-17 We got out-goaltended. Skinner makes a couple saves that he should have had, we win.

Actually most of us call out what the issue was for that particular game. Poor goaltending, poor defensive play by d-man, poor back checking by forwards, lazy effort, hot goaltender... etc. You seem to only harp on how bad off the Oilers are for having McDavid and Draisaitl.
3 out of 4 goals today were giveaways by Nurse and Bouchard; 2 turnovers attempting a breakout pass and a turnover at the offensive blue line. Are you suggesting McDavid or Draisaitl should come back to defensive zone and initiate the breakout pass, or should they play the blueline on the PP instead of Bouchard?
Also, can you explain why our PK has improved greatly since Woody started deploying McDavid and Draisaitl on the 1 and 2 PK units? How does that factor into your assessment of their defensive play?
Offensively Bouchard, Barrie and Nurse are the best options to play with McDavid and Draisaitl, but they have been brutal defending at the same time. And Nurse has been especially brutal lately.

Much as it is usually a glaring give away by nurse that causes a goal when we see the big picture it is a bit different, Nurse leads all Oilers at +10 and Bouchard is at the opposite end worst Oiler at -14, McD is +5 and Drai is +4

No doubt Nurse can play better than the last few games have shown, but when you are "the guy", and making north of 9 million a season, the mistakes become that much bigger and glaring. Even with Bouchard, Woody was describing him as a young defender, learning the game; and there is some truth to that. Nurse can't be given that same kind of leeway.

I agree. Definitely worthy of moose getting a 10 second time out.

I guess that's still one of those hateful Bettman points tonight.

Despite the fact that Puljujarvie did score tonight...I wonder, if during this past week, Jesse has been able to take a deep breath, seeing as how Mr. Bob Stauf(two f)er, from Oiler hockey, has not had the time to dump all over him, while Big Bob was trying to cover up the f**x ups of his favorite son, Darnell..
It appears that Stauf(two f)er will not back off till Jesse is history.. FWIW

Small holes can be repaired or plugged. Think we’ll stay afloat for now. Maybe next year. Say hi to Calgary down there.

Skinner signed. Bouchard up next and he will likely get a decent bump up in salary.
With the cap expected to go up only $1M next season, a lot of teams including the Oilers are going to need to do some creative roster management to stay under the maximum allowed.
https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-salary-...on/c-338733940
I can see Puljujarvi not getting a qualifying offer. Replaced by someone whose contract is closer to league minimum.
UFAs like Ryan and Janmark will be replaced by guys with contracts closer to league minimum.
Will be interesting to watch it all unfold in the offseason....... or sooner.

Yup you can lose every game of the season in OT and still be a 500 club statistically.

Yup.
I'm not a huge fan of the Bettman point, although I do feel on average that the team that loses in OT is better than the team that loses in regulation.

Solid road win tonight against a good team. Depth scoring and good tending by Skinner. Best game they have had for a while and should bring them out of this bit of a funk they're in.
Go Oil!!!

RNH is having a solid year so far. Was starting to wonder after last year's slide. Frank Seravalli had him ranked #1 in power play specialists a few weeks ago. Was a little surprised to see that but he's the one doing the analysis. Great two-way player. I don't suppose his face-off winning percentages are any better but he's shooting more and it's paying off.
