So I have a barrel off of a model 98 Mauser large ring. I also have a model 96 Mauser rifle. Which I believe is a small ring. Is it possible to have a gunsmith unscrew the barrel from the 96 action and screwing the 98 barrel right in? Is the thread pitch etc the same? I知 aware the action may not work with different cartridges. I知 only asking about switching barrels. Thanks for any info.
