Both antelope and mule deer require a draw that takes a lot of years for antelope and maybe just a few for mule deer in some areas. Mule deer can be hunted with a bow without a draw in some areas you have to look at the regs for the areas you may want to hunt.

1. start applying for ALL the antelope permits right now. Hunting a non-trophy antelope is the best "dress rehearsal" for hunting a trophy buck later on.

2. Take a few trips down into the area you intend to hunt in the summer to go fishing or just to look around and make some land owner contacts.

Good luck!

When I lived in Edmonton I used to hunt and fish a lot around Edson country. Sundance and little sundance areas.
