Default UPS sucks!

Has anybody else had headaches with UPS? I purchased a fishing rod from Cabelas three weeks ago, and still haven’t received it. First Canada Post said they couldn’t deliver it because it was too long (3 1/2’). Then it went to UPS, only to have them screw up the destination address. I’ve been on the phone all morning getting it straightened out. Finally thought it was a done deal, then I get a phone call from them because somehow they got the address messed up again. WTF! Our mailing system sure needs some work, especially considering how much shipping costs are getting to be.

Someone at Canada Post doesn't know what they are talking about (shocker). Their max length for one dimension is 2 meters. Total max is 3 meters (L+G):

No one dimension may exceed 2 m (78.7 in.)
Max. L + G = 3 m (118 in.)

(G) Girth: (height x 2) + (width x 2)

Cabelas is the problem I'm sure this isn't the first fishing rod they shipped they should know what carrier to use. Anything to do with UPS is always trouble and expensive.

Cabela’s could easily have sent the rod in a box longer than 2 meters. Happened more than once. Not even sure where they find these unreasonably long boxes and why they use them for considerably shorter items.

It’s a 7’, 2 piece rod, not a big deal, but it’s been nothing but a headache.

They sent me rods, shooting sticks, and other things about a meter long folded/disassembled in about 2.5-meter long boxes filled with paper. Go figure. Never had a problem myself though in terms delivery. Had other problems, lol, but never with delivery (yet).

I haven't had any issues with UPS in over a decade. The trick is to not use them, if the retailer ships with them, buy it from somewhere else.

X2, then there's the ridiculous brokerage fee if it's coming from the US.

Best advice right there.

They are called the brown bandits for a reason.

If you use them for cross boarder shipping your going to learn a VERY expensive lesson about declaration fees.
