Seems to be a big issue I've seen a few threads about this taking this long to receive it. I went in with 4 friends and 2 got there's in 3 months others took 4 months

there is a grace period now for renewals. i believe that your pal can be expired for up to 6 months, as long as the application has already been sent in.

I renewed mine in January, took 6 business days when I did it online, even took my new picture with my iPhone. I'm surprised it varies that much.

Better yet. Have your reference call.
My PAL expires on Feb 29th.
I did the restricted course so I had to send in a new application for the RPAL.
I sent it in on Jan 14th. A few weeks later I checked the status online and it said received on Jan 21st and was in processing (had a file number).
Yesterday I had my reference call in with my file number. They said they had tried to contact him but they hadn't.
I checked the status online today and it says approved and sent out. If not received in two weeks to call them.
If I do actually get it within the next two weeks it will be done in under 6 weeks.

Go down to Harry Hayes building. There's a firearms office beside small cafeteria. Talk to the officer and inquire- explain yourself. It will do wonders

I'm sure they must toss all the applications in a bucket, stir them up and draw a few out at a time to process. Something like that is the only explanation for such a wide variation in wait times. Anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months is typical. That's government for you. Writing a letter to the CFO helped me.

Sent in to get my RPAL 3 weeks ago, nothing yet but thats not unexpected.
Lots of guys on CGN are getting theirs back within 2 months some under a month. Seems like a complete crapshoot.
Might end up being a good thing as it has forced me to really research my first handgun purchase and not just go on a whim. haha

Just called. I sent in on Feb 1 (so 2 and a half weeks) and the lady said it usually takes about 3-6 weeks to begin processing so to call back in 2 weeks and they should have started it by then.
They can't confirm whether it's been received or not until the processing has begun.

Sent my sons PAL application in by registered mail , signature required. That way you have proof it has been received. They called, had a couple questions and PAL was in his hands within a wee of the call. Five to six weeks total

Seem to be a big diff in time between new / innitial pal and renewals.
Mine expires late March, so I'd better get on it.

We argued once when I renewed my own PAL. They tried to say it hadn't been received till I was able to give not only a date, but the person who signed for it.Just one way to cover your butt

On the NFA page some guys are saying the .000? number on the end your PAL indicates the number of times its been renewed. Anybody ever hear of this ? Mine has been the same for last 3 times at least, maybe different in other provinces?
The wait times have been from 4 weeks to 3 months with my buddies nobody knows why.

I did mine last spring online, had it back in less than 2 weeks. Talked to others that had the same return or quicker. I think the difference here is that these were in Manitoba, and from what I have read online (and I don't know if this is true or not) is that the delays are usually held up at the Provincial level. I talked to one person that had let their PAL lapse for quite some time, and less than 2 months from sending in the paperwork they said they had a new one. May all boil down to the luck of the draw.

My PAL is the same , ends in 3 which is the number of times it has been renewed .

The online renewals are processed much faster. Mine was in my hands in 2 weeks. Initial applications seem to take a long time.

Online renewals are super fast. Did mine Oct 25th. Had it returned back in my hands Nov 3rd. That was with them verifying with my wife to make sure I could have guns (she wasn't home when I sent it out so didn't get her signature)
