Anyone else see “pure instinct “ episode 15. Just watched it and if I heard it right the host with the beard was trying to tell us that in Alberta we can buy an archery tag for moose over the counter and hunt anywhere and any sex and the only restrictions are the date when the different seasons start. He does not say anything about applying for a tag being a requirement. As far as I know the tag being drawn fo some zones would be considered a restriction. I replayed tape a number of times and that’s what I heard, maybe I misunderstood him but if that’s what he said he is misinformed.
An over the counter moose archery tag is 44.95 you can use it for the open archery seasons listed in the regulations in there respective zones many but not all of the seasons are antlered and antlerless seasons there is no draw required. This over the counter tag is not restricted to any specific zone it’s the same as any other “general tag” allowing you to hunt bull moose in 412 or bulls and cows in 404 for example.

There isn't a northern zone that I am aware of that allows to hunt antlerless moose with a general archery tag, or otherwise for that matter (there is no draw for an antlerless moose in any of northern zones if I recall correctly; there is a calf draw in some, but no antlerless draw).

By northern do you mean 500 WMUs? My friends got a cow moose tag for 509. Then calf tags for 520. And northern to me is even 355 where three friends got cow moose tags.
Well I have a question then.
If I get drawn for a rifle zone in Oct in one of the above zones and buy that draw tag.
Can I still hunt in the archery zone with a bow in the early season ? What do I need to do to be legal if so ?
So I see in 353 you can hunt cow or bull moose with a general moose archery tag.
If I get a bull draw in Nov . I still use that same Nov tag when i archery hunt in Sept?
But I can only shot a bull and not a cow in Sept with my bow.
Is this correct ?
