Default .303 problem. Remove JB Weld

So i acquired what I believe is a 303 british parker hale on a trade. Gun is in good shape however one of the previous owners used jb weld to put a very crappy homemade scope mounting system on it. Basically bent a piece of flat iron 90 degrees. Wondering if there is any way to remove it? I can post pics if you guys have any ideas. Thanks

Some judicious heat with a butane torch will do it, but one has to be very careful!

Default JB

Remove the stock, and put the barrelled action ,in the freezer overnight, when you remove it from the freezer lightly tap the jb weld with something solid, and it will most likely separate from the steel.

You may not like what you find under it. Hopefully they didn't score the surface before the stuck it.

Yup and yup.

Small taps and in a motion that pulls the offending piece away. For more stubborn pieces, heat and cold can weaken that bond too. I'm hopefully that the only damage underneath will be caused by having job attached to it, not the surface being scored. I suspect if they were desperate enough to use JB they didn't have the capability of thinking to score the surface.

Poor surface preparation does come in handy at times.

Ya but that ain't nears as funny as Bubba wrangling up a fine piece of backyard gun smithing, to then have it fall off in -15 when the moment of truth is upon him.

All because he could save $50 at the time.
Tripping over dollars to pick up a nickle comes to mind.
As does putting lipstick on a pig!
