Excellent marketing.

Is it not typical to put rumours into the shooting community just after hunting season and before christmas?

Then introduce the product in January to stir some more speculation and free advertising by your favourite lackeys who say everything is beyond what has ever been produced.

Then introduce the product at the SHOT show.

Then introduce the new .225 Cat. to bait even the the ney sayers.

Said neysayer buys the .225 Cat and says "what kind of a piece of sxxt is this?

Gotta love those marketing shysters.

That is indeed Brilliant......

On my part, I have to ask how many 'niches' I need to fill? .22 LR, .17 HRM, .223, .22-250 pretty much covers me from field mice to coyote/wolf. Can't see buying yet another rimfire that is going to be just a wee bit more than the .17 and a wee bit less than the .223. I think I'll just carry on, and skip the UBER rifle.

This has been all over rimfire central and CGN. Some online retailers are listing ammo for it already. It's the 17 Winchester Super Magnum. 20-25gr bullets, 3000fps

http://www.loudoungunsinc.com/winche...5-p-33621.html

Winchester Super Magnum
Winchester Short Magnum

both WSM?!

Sheer stupidity.

Who is even creating this cartridge? Winchester doesn't exist anymore...

The name Winchester for ammunition was sold to Olin and the name Winchester for firearms was sold to FN....

I think it's the rebirth of the 5MM Rim Fire Magnum.

What's the point with such a small caliber? Would it not make more sense to do this with a larger caliber?

The above is NOT to be confused with the OTHER .22 MOAB......

The .22 massive ordnance air blast which is designed to be dropped from above your target varmint.

I had a Winchester .22 rimfire mag a few years ago. Sold it and bought a .17HMR. Best gopher calibre available these days.

Ya, I have a .22, my dads dad gave it to him, then my dad gace it to me. So its 40+ years old, and I can't see going out and buy another one. However, if they developed this cartridge in a larger caliber with these features, I would be more then willing to go drop $1000+ on that caliber of firearm.

There seems to be quite the following for these small calibers.

Waited up until midnight for the unveiling of the .22WSMUBER. All I saw was the x-factor varmint rounds. Apparently .223 ammo will now come in an array of exciting colors.

I don't think that this be be unveiled untill after the shot show. It seems that most companies like to save interesting items untill then.
