Accordions, brass, lead and knives. What could possibly go wrong?

I have a collection of 250 Savage ammo boxes. 250 Savage or 250-3000 is the first cartridge to exceed 3000 ft/sec velocity. Particularly like the old Savage boxes. Always looking to add to the collection.

That’s pretty neat, how old are they?

An accordion collector! I aways liked the sounds from an accordion. I suspect you either loved the sound - or hated it.

I still think you have a ‘reel’ security risk there.

I guess the question is: all value aside, how would you feel if they were stolen?
(Like who on earth would ever steal an urn with some loved one’s ashes in it? But it happens.)

Self taught and learning everyday. Kinda hard to find an instructor down south here which is very understandable, kinda like a firearm, in the wrong hands it can be very painful.

I have more valuable stuff under my porch than what is on that shelf, the fact that someone would even consider trying too break into my place is enough for me to have a decent security system.

So you are taking them off-market as a public service.

Yeah, I made the mistake of leaving my accordion in my locked car one day and when I got back, the window was broken and there were two more next to it.

You can't be too careful with an accordion.

Tools and antique tools, original artwork, books, coins, Scotch, sports memorabilia, rocks, fossils and minerals and a whole lot of other stuff. I guess you could call it hoarding!

I’d love to be able to collect and restore old snowmobiles, outboards, chainsaws, etc. But probably only if I could put them on display somehow to show them off so people could see the beauty of design, creativity inventiveness and so the intrinsic value in them. Otherwise I’d just catch more flack for hoarding junk.

I really think most people don’t see most collectibles as the slightest bit valuable unless there’s a big price tag or famous person attached to it. And it works that way for useless crap too. Then suddenly they develop an affinity for it. Like when some big entertainment personality buys and flogs some crap and suddenly half the world wants it too.

I like the phrase “price us what you pay, value is what you get”.

I collect old lamps among other things, I particularly like the old coal oil Aladdin's they give off 60 watt light.

The lamps in the pic left to right are a 1952 Lane, 1893 Rayo, a 1936 Aladdin drape.

Default collections

Ive been collecting oilfield stickers since the mid 80's. Also collect custom knives. Have a few customs from a few journeyman and mastersmiths. Had a small collection of Peter Wright anvils from 150 pounds to 508 pounds. Tired of moving them around so I sold them all.

Age, I got into when I was about 1, I have been trying to stop but just can't.

But in fact I collect lever action rifles. I inherited a bunch from my dad and uncle, and have added some over my life time. Marlins, Winchester, and others. Most are old, some in great shape, some not so much. I have also bought new of all kinds. It's not really just an antique collection, more of just lever's collection.

I have too many things I collect. But I feel the knowledge in each respective field is something that no one can take away from me.

I collect:

Vintage Hockey (Both raw & graded)
NHL memorabilia
Rocks, Minerals, Fossils
Canadian Coins & Currency
Gold & Silver
Old golf clubs (Hickory shafts)

Need a bigger house soon lol.

I collected late 70’s through early 80’s hockey cards when I was a kid. I still have a shoe box full of them. I should see if they are worth selling since I haven’t looked at them in 35 years now. I’m sure I still have a stack of Star Wars, ET and Mork & Mindy cards too.

As for presently collecting, just clutter...

Back when I was a kid, I collected coins. Then for years I collected lever action rifles and double barrel shotguns and the odd odd ball military rifle. Now all I collect is EI.

LOL - I never minded the sound, just hated the lessons. Was forced to take lessons for two years when I was barely big enough to lug the darn thing around the corner to my teacher's house. Nothing worse than hearing your friends outside playing shinny and you're stuck in your room plunking away on a 'stomach Steinway'

ROFLMAO - good thing I wasn't sipping my coffee when I read that!

My wife collects as I mentioned. She collects pottery. Since getting ill in 2014 she started selling some of her collection off but we still have tons in the house. Mostly 100+ year old stuff. She has a pile of lamps (electric, not oil) some of which are extremely beautiful and could easily be rewired. If you ever get the urge to start collecting 100 year old lamps, PM me!
