Default Big pig running around my land

This pig has been seeing a few times about 1/2 mile from my cabin I'm guessing it's a tame one that was released by someone or got loose

Any idea how far they range? Doesnt look like any pigs that I have seen on farm, color is far different, and not a wild boar is it? Any neighbors that raise them that you know of?

Will it take an apple from your hand?

(please, please have video camera running)

I'm kind of hoping it lives and breeds be cool that have some wild boars around the place.

You should adopt it and call it Arnold Ziffel (Green Acres).

Be careful what you wish for. They are a menace. They are one of the most prolific breeding, destructive, nocturnal critters there is. Oh, did I mention dangerous too.

Well maybe, but he looks like an older bore, I'm thinking after the hanging you would be dragging him to the back 40 for the song dogs to eat.

Anyone who's tried it will tell you pigs are tough to herd or catch. fortunately, There's a ready solution. As for the party hoping he multiplies, give your head a shake, wild pigs are an environmental disaster .

In my very unprofessional opinion, that pig looks like a tamworth or duroc or maybe a combination cross. Wild boar mature to be black. I should know as I breed european wild boar.

Whatever it is, it looks like free sausage, chops, and steaks to me.

Not necessarily. In my experience, boars that have been kept away from sows for a few month lose most of the taint. Chops, shoulders, and steaks are good. Hams and bellies get made into pepperoni, or other spicy sausage.

I bet he'd follow a grain pail. His nose is too curved to have been 'wild' for too long.

Maybe pull some staples and lift the wires, put some grain on your side of the fence. Lots of meat there, that's one big pig.
