Default Operation melanistic harvest.... done!!

Beauty day here in the south.... little to no wind. Doggo rating to go.

Gave the wild birds a break and hit a release site... other than road hunters... we were the only ones there.

Once again.... no roosters for me. I think the rooster gods hate me. I got 2 huns on some great shots.........

But still no roosters for me.

My boy and the dog took the show from there!

I’ve never seen one before... very cool!!

I don’t think these are melanistic birds boys..... I heard about a northern Chinese strain that is colored like this and supposed to be wayyyy hardier due to its adaptation to the northern climes.....

Boy and the dog had a great day!!

Despite my roosterless season... I’m luvin it too.

A few States to the south tried Sichuan birds with the hopes they could manage with the weather of north central North America. The thought being they were from a region in China that more resembled their local. It didn’t turnout great from what I heard.

They looked pretty much like a Ringneck, without the ring.

I know nothing about Melanistics.

I would take two Huns from two good shots over a Melanistic pheasant every time.

I would much rather have the opportunity to take Huns than released pheasants.

I don't have the advantage of chasing Huns over Pheasants all we have locally in Sharptails ,Ruffed grouse and Spruce grouse so when I go down south I shoot whatever I get the chance to and that includes released Chukars .
