Actually its no secret that guar gum is used in many different operations. Guar and Xanthum gums are typically used in the food industry and oil field operations to help viscosify or "gel" a fluid.

I am lactose intollerant...so ice cream works great as a production optimizer...makes sense it is in oil industry also.

i did. so did just about everyone who works in the oilfield. if the treehuggers would slow down and actually learn some facts, you would know that 99% of what frac fluid comprises is biodegradable, and quite harmless. of course that doesnt do much to scare anyone, the headlines arent frightening enough.

i know that anyone who puts a "K" in frac doesnt have a clue what they are talking about. on a better note for you andy...lit was 30 degrees in kindersley today.

Or closer to home, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

So, perhaps you could teach those institutions what they don't know about FRACKING

Heres my take. Maybe fracing will raise the price of ice cream. But as long as fracing continues and increases i work and or work more so it offsets the cost of ice cream. If it gets to the point where the common joe cant afford a klondike bar anymore we have way bigger problems than the cost of ice cream.

Let the fracing continue and prosper. As long as fracing is going good im doing good. God bless the oil patch

Then why do the American Petroleum Institute and CAPP both use the term? And yes, I know it is not in fracturing, I get that, but the industry organizations use the term for a reason.
