Default Reloading for 300 Win Mag

Because of the extreme difficulty in finding ammunition I want to start reloading for my Sauer & Sohn mod 90 300 win mag. I have managed to get hold of Hornady brass and Barnes 180 gr TTSX bullets. I want to use the rifle for hunting elk and moose. I realize that one has to find the correct bullet and load for a specific rifle. Is there anyone out there that is prepared to share their secret recipes with me? It would be great if I could have a starting point that could save me a lot of bullets, powder and time.
Regards and thank you

You have good brass and bullets. Now track down some IMR or H 4831 or RL 22. iMR 7828 works well too, as does H 1000. Going to be hard to get powder keep your eyes open. Fed 215 m primers or whatever you can find for a mag rifle, start low and work up

No shortcuts here; you have a good starting point. The only shortcut that is possible, is if someone had the rifle before you did and worked up a load.

Get a few good reloading books and start with some desirable powders. A little quicker way to get a good load developed is to pick up a Lee Hand Press and measure and shoot right at the range, with some brass ready to go.

Other than that, every component you change may have an effect on pressures velocity and accuracy.

Mine's almost the same, but 74.0 to 74.5gr of RL22.

Had other powders, never needed to try them.

I will through out another powder, Winchester Supreme 780. That is what Winchester uses in their Supreme and Elite ammo lines.

I never bothered to try the Barnes TSX's back then as I was super happy with the Accubonds and traded the TSX's I had for more Accubonds. The TTSX's would be a sweet bullet for sure. I have the BArnes Manual at home, if I get a chance this weekend, I will look up data. Might be just as fast to look on Hodgdon's website for info.

Exactly what I was using, also, try 165 gr barnes tripple shock - you can push it up to about 76 gr RL22

Nosler has a great online manual you can use. Just google nosler load data and you should be set.

168 gr. Barnes TSX's using 77 gr. of RL22, 9.5 REm primers and Norma brass have been really accurate. Each gun seems to have it's own preference though.

What this guy said,,,,,,, you don't know these people enough to trust your life on their info. Look on line at whatever bullet company you chose and load to their specs. Meet these people then you can make your own mind up wether you can trust your face to them. Loading is serious stuff so treat it with respect and knowledge.

180 TTSX out of 300 Win Mag. 36 inches penetration, entry 2" as it opened on twigs that you can see trapped under open petals.

I don't think that there are any frangible ( cup and Core) bullets getting to this Elk.

0.934-0.308=0.626"
